Outside the entrance to Kuchaman Fort. Kuchaman used to be on the Silk Route, so there are lots of magnificent merchants' houses. Under the British Raj, the merchants moved to the seaports and their houses were locked and left empty. Many are still empty and are gently decaying, like the one on the right. Note the electricity transformer added as a new feature to the front of the house! Kuchaman, Rajasthan, India, February 2006 Tenuous Link: Decaying splendour

I am assuming that this is the grandfather - he is obviously very proud of the little boy and was eager for me to take his photograph. In the background, food is being prepared for the wedding celebrations that are just starting in the building across the road. Kuchaman, Rajasthan, India, February 2006 Tenuous Link: Sun --> Grandson Got in there quickly to avoid a series of sky/clouds shots!

Best viewed large! A street in the town of Kuchaman. Looks timeless, but there could well be an internet cafe just around the corner! Note the fancy ironwork under the eaves of the house on the left, and the decoration on the doorway at the end of the street. Rajasthan, India, February 2006 : Narrow street
