This preposterous structure still stands as a monument to Nazi megalomania. It was built in a vain attempt to protect Vienna from allied aerial attacks - the round platforms supported anti-aircraft guns. It has been crumbling due to natural causes for decades and the city now invests to secure the structure. There is a second tower in the Augarten and several more around the city. The towers also served as bombshelters. _MG_0973BW
