View from the Helsinki Broadcasting Tower

The observation deck level on top of the Helsinki broadcasting tower (Pasilan linkkitorni) is 112 meters above ground and 141 meters above sea level. This level can be reached by elevator but the tower is not open to the public. The concrete structure continues for three more meters (but is narrower than the main tower) and on top of it is an additional steel structure that holds a large number of antennas. The tallest tip of the tower is 140 meters above ground and 170 meters above sea level. This is the tallest structure in Helsinki.

Mannerheimintie in Meilahti (Helsinki, Finland). The naked trees are Swedish Whitebeams (Sorbus intermedia). Moving to a digital SLR left my previous wide-angle lenses obsolete. On days like this I really feel the need for a wide-angle.

The small building at the bottom of the image is the European Broadcasting Union uplink station / earth terminal in Finland. The many small antennas on top of the larger building belong to the telecom company TeliaSonera.
