I've been meaning to take this photograph for five years. Finally. At left: according to the Encyclopedia of Chicago, the Masjid Al-Faatir mosque was built by a son of Elijah Muhammad and significantly financially supported by Muhammad Ali. At right: the shuttered 47th Street Co-op may end up being the final nail in the coffin of the Hyde Park Co-op Market.
