Katarina Kyrka in Stockholm, Sweden.
Made by Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )
Katarina Kyrka in Stockholm, Sweden where my third great grandfather, Lars Magnus Wingblad (1794-?) married Brita Christina Ökneberg (1793-?) on October 10, 1824. Lars Magnus Wingblad (1794-?) impregnated Brita Christina Ökneberg (1793-?) in November or December of 1822 but didn't realize it. He then became engaged to Anna Ericsdotter Wennström. They made their vows at Katarina kyrka, Stockholm on February 9, 1823. This was just one month after impregnating Brita Christina Ökneberg. Brita gave birth on August 10, 1823 to Carl Wilhelm Wingblad (1823-bef1830) just six months after Lars got engaged. Carl was baptized at Hedvig Eleonora Church, in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday, August 18, 1823. Lars and Brita were listed as Gesellen Wingblad and Br. Chr. Oknaberg. Carl died sometime before 1830. At their own request Lars and Anna were released from their vow to marry on August 3, 1824. The record says: after closer knowledge of each others temperament and reasoning they realized that a union of marriage would cause them both unhappiness. The real reason was Lars child with the other woman. They had been engaged for one year and six months. Lars, just two months later, married Brita Christina Ökneberg (1793-?) on October 10, 1824 at Katarina kyrka in Stockholm, Sweden. Brita was born on September 28, 1793 at Torshälla parish, Södermanland, Sweden. Her parents may have been: Lars Ökneberg (c1747-?), a soldier; and Brita Olsdotter (c1747-?). Their child, Anton Julius Winblad I (1828-1901), was born on October 8, 1828. Anton was baptized on October 11, 1828 in Stockholm at Maria Magdalena Church. Anton is my second great grandfather.

After the devastating fire (1990) in Katarina Lutheran church, the place resembling a proper choir (1650's) had to be replaced. Note that it's not used as a high altar anymore. The arch (new in the 90's) doesn't harmonize at all with the odd art work in the center, but the then parish council decided for this pretentious sculpture called 'Presence through absence' (Närvaro genom frånvaro) by Liss Eriksson

Squeezed in organ

The balcony for the organ was made just about a meter to high above the floor. After the fire in Katarina Lutheran church, they couldn't make the new organ as it was complete with figurines since it would compromise the ceiling. Also for correctly experiencing the church room, the balcony should ideally be a meter lower.

Clock high up in Katarina Lutheran church. There's a small hatch about 9 o' clock making it possible to view the whole church from the top floors. Dangerous yet exciting!
