Skridskopaviljongen 9100
Made by Berndt S
Sweden, Stockholm, Kastellholmen The old “Skating Pavilion” at Kastellholmen, built back in 1882 by the Royal Skating Club and the Royal Swedish Yacht Club ------ På 1860-talet blev skridskoåkning omåttligt populärt bland de högre samhällsskikten i Europa och 1866 bildades Kungliga Skridskoklubben i Stockholm.

Kastellet
Made by Patrick Costello
Kastellholmen is a small island in the centre of Stockholm, Sweden, connected to the adjacent Skeppsholmen through the bridge Kastellholmsbron. On the island there is a small castle, Kastellet, which was built by Fredrik Blom. Of course, I had to include a picture of the Swedish flag :-) According to the mythology, the Swedish 12th century king, Eric the Holy, saw a yellow cross in the sky as he landed in Finland during the First Swedish Crusade in 1157. Interpreting this as a sign from God, he adopted the yellow cross against a blue background as his banner.

A view of Stockholm Gröna Lund's amusement park. The picture was taken one evening sunset from neighbouring Skeppsholmen island, while sightseeing around the Stockholm city centre. Dark clouds and sunlight coming from the side created an insteresting play of dark and golden colours.

Relaxing

Kicking back (literally) on Kastellholmen looking towards Skeppsholmen. The swedes know how to do bankside benches: huge, 12 foot long wooden beams ... loads of them. More accomodating than the silly little ornamental benches along the Thames.
