MY FIRST HOLIDAY UPLOAD AND THIS ONE SHOWS 2 THINGS.FIRSTLY THAT WAS ABOUT AS CLOUD FREE AS THE SKY GOT IN TWO WEEKS :( AND SECONDLY THIS WAS ONE OF MY MOST FREQUENTED SUNRISE SPOTS.AS MUCH AS I WALKED THE BEACH (ABOUT 3 MILES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS) I JUST COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING OTHER THAN THESE BOATS TO USE AS A FOREGROUND.IT WAS JUST SAND AND SUNBEDS.NO ROCKS,HEADLANDS OR THE LIKES,TOTALLY NOT UP MY STREET. IT WAS A SHAME REALLY COS THE VIEWS ACROSS THE BAY TOWARDS THE NEXT PENINSULA WERE GREAT AT SUNRISE AND ON A COUPLE OF CLEAR MORNINGS YOU COULD SEE THE TOWERING BULK OF THE DISTANT MOUNT ATHOS ON THE NEXT PENINSULA BEYOND THAT. SORRY BUT EXPECT TO SEE MORE OF THESE BOATS :) EXiF....F19....3 SECONDS....ISO 100....26MM....LEE 0.6H ND GRAD LOCATION

Explored # 12, Aug 06, 2009 (thanks) An hour's drive from where I live....thank God for Halkidiki...... ps: this image is NOT HDR :) The clouds that day were spectacular, very threatening and scary, it was really hot and it felt like it was going to change any minute....fortunately it didn't rain until we were sitting in a tavern in Athitos enjoying our lunch with Linoush and SonofJordan. Thank you all for your visit.

This is my first ever shot of lightning. It was taken in the early hours of the morning on my apartment balcony. i had a gorillapod attached to the balcony railing but I wish I could have had my proper tripod with me to reduce the camera movement. It probably didn't help that I was dancing around listening to my mp3 player as I was enjoying the spectacle (plenty of wine with dinner and too many cocktails after it).

A gentle pre-sunrise stroll along the beach looking for rocks proved fruitless,so instead of using a sunbed as foreground interest,i decided upon adding a piece of sandy beach and some small breaking waves.I have to say i was expecting some great,bright red,sunlit cloud sunrises but this was about as close as i witnessed. :( EXiF....F16....1/6 SECOND....ISO 100....28MM....LEE 0.3H ND GRAD

One night we had a big thunder storm although the rain didn't hit us, it did knock out the whole power for the penisular that we were on. Lucky for us all in our hotel George ( the owner) had a backup plan and drove his bike to the edge of the pool and lit up the bar. It also help to create a unique photo :-)

I love the Lizards in greece especially this one. It stays around for a while alloing me to take a few photos but it soon bolted out of sight when I changed position. This shot is a crop shot from another good shot but I felt you didn't get the full glory of its head :-)

Empty bench made from brown wood, located under a vigorous three on a small cliff in Nea Fokea, lit by the soft sunset colors. It is in the close proximity of the ancient Greek chapel built around St. Paul's tower. It offers a great view of the bay area and marina.

This tranquil scene was taken from Pefkorhori harbour on the Halkidiki Peninsula. In the background is the holy Mount Athos with it's famous monastery and policy of No Women Allowed. I didn't go visit.

Looking through the pine trees from our hotel the Aegean looked so calm and blue, it was almost like a lake. Some times you felt you could just reach out and touch it despite the walk down to it
