The Atik Valide Mosque (Turkish: Atik Valide Camii, Eski Valide Camii) is an Ottoman mosque located on the hill above a large and densely populated district of Üsküdar, in Istanbul, Turkey. The Atik Valide Mosque (name translation:Old Mosque of the Sultan's Mother) was one of the most extensive mosque complexes in Istanbul area. The mosque was built for Sultana Nur-Banu, the Venetian-born wife of Selim II and the mother of Murat III. She was the first of all sultan's mothers that ruled over the Ottoman Empire from the harem. Mimar Sinan completed the mosque in 1583, and it was his last major work. It has a wide shallow dome which rest on five semidomes, with a flat arch over the entrance portal. The interior is surrounded on three sides by galleries.

Şakirin cami 8 Mayıs 2009 Gazi, Gassan ve Ghada Şakir kardeşlerin babaları İbrahim Şakir ve anneleri Semiha Şakirin anısına Karacaahmette yaptırdıkları Şakirin Camii törenle hizmete açıldı. Mimari tasarımını Hüsrev Tayla, iç dekorasyonunu Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu’nun üstlendiği, modern çizgiler taşımasıyla dikkatleri üzerine çeken Şakirin Cami, 8 Mayısta ibadete açıldı. 10.000 metrekare üzerine kurulmuş tek kubbeli, 500 kişi kapasiteli yapı, Semiha ve İbrahim Şakir anısına çocukları tarafından İstanbul Karacaahmet’te yaptırıldı. İç dekorasyonunu -bir kadın- içmimar Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu’nun yaptığı cami, bu yönüyle ilk olma özelliğini taşıyor.

Sakirin Mosque is located at one of the entrances to Karacaahmet Cemetery in Uskudar, Istanbul. It was built by the Semiha Sakir Foundation in memory of Ibrahim Sakir and Semiha Sakir and opened on 7 May 2009. According to newspaper reports, it is the most modern mosque in Turkey. The mosque's architect was Husrev Tayla, known for his work on Kocatepe Mosque in Ankara and for his architectural conservation work. Its interior designer was Zeynep Fadıllıoglu, a great-niece of Semiha Sakir, and also according to newspaper reports, the first female interior designer of a mosque

To the north of Kadikoy is Haydarpasa, and the train station built in 1908 with Prussain-style architecture which was the first stop along the Baghdad railway. There are tombs and monuments dedicated to the English and French soldiers who lost their lives during the Crimean War (1854-56), near the military hospital. The north-west wing of the 19th Century Selimiye Barracks once housed the hospital, used by Florence Nightingale to care for soldiers, and remains to honour her memory

The Sakirin Mosque is a new one, built in 2009 and is located on the Asian side, somewhere between Uskudar and Kadikoy. Apart from its stunning modern design, it is notable for the fact that its interior design team was led by a woman, Zeynep Fadillioglu.

This is the dome of the Selimiye Camii that rests on top a hill in Uskudar on the Asian side of Istanbul. It was built by the Sultan III in 1805. This may be part of the reason that the interior paintwork still appears fresh and colourfull.
