There is a nature preservation area just a few hundred meters off the city center. The area is located on the bank of the Tourujoki-river. There are also six other recreational 'nature paths' in Jyväskylä.

Exhibitions and art museums: Admission is free for all on Fridays to Jyväskylä Art Museum, Craft Museum of Finland and Museum of Central Finland. Ask for a student discount in the museums and galleries.

Winter morning panograph

Yesterday I stumbled upon a technique called panography (not to be confused with panorama). The idea is to take several photos of a subject like when shooting panoramas, but unlike in panorama shots the photo orientation can be anything. And when you're done, instead of stitching photos seamlessly and cropping like you do with panoramas, you leave all seams in place and do not crop. The result is somehing like this. This sounded interesting, so I decided to try it someday. That day came quicker than I thought, as today was a beautiful winter morning, so I decided to give this technique a try. I put on some warm clothes, took my camera and shot ~35 photos to be stitched. Missed a few frames in the middle, though. The result is my first attempt in panography: a winter morning view from our balcony.

View On Black There have been lot of problems with banks in Finland messing up their systems and everything. Everyone is sick of it. So I came up with a brilliant solution so we wouldn't need banks. A fungus, or a bacteria or something small, doesn't really matter what it is, a small thingy. Anyway you put it under your matress along with all of your savings, and here's the idea, it clones them. So your savings have a good intrest rate underneath you. Need more money? Just lie down, the fungus likes warm conditions. No need for banks.

I swim here once a week. This photo was taken without sunlight or moonlight. The only light was the ambient light that reflected from the clouds. Ice swimming is swimming in a body of water with a frozen crust of ice, which requires cutting a hole in the ice. This may also be simulated by a pool of water at 0 °C, the temperature at which water freezes. This is the beach where a large community of ducks live. It's a very nice place for a duck. It's like a vacation for them, all they do is lie down or swin at the beach and walk 10 meters to eat the grass. Nice scenery as well. I think it's great that they redid this small beach for this summer and 99% of the time it's used by ducks and seaguls :) There's a boat.
