Best Buy, You Disappoint Me

Best Buy, You Disappoint Me
Made by Rob Boudon
I woke up today ready to purchase Guitar Hero Encore for the PS2. Most of you know what an avid fan I am of Guitar Hero. I flipped through Best Buy's website and found a deal to my liking... Guitar Hero Encore Priced at $39.99 with a free Gift Card for $15 I thought... I'll take it! Hmmm, but I would like to play it today, so I checked out the Best Buy store advertisement. The ad read... FREE $15 GIFT CARD INSTANTLY, WHEN YOU BUY THESE GUITAR HERO GAMES FOR PS2 Oh goody! I thought. I can be there in two shakes of a lamb's tail. When I arrived there were stacks of games and I gingerly plucked one out of the bin and scurried over to the counter. The gal rang up my purchase and said the canned thanx for coming to best bu.... mumble mumble. I inquired about my free $15 gift card. She didn't know what I was talking about. I grabbed an ad and showed her. She said I don't know, you have to go to customer service. sigh* I thought why can't anything be easy with these stores. We walked over to customer service and the guy behind the counter said I don't know, we could ask Carlos about it but he just went to lunch. *sigh* again! I thought How long am I supposed to wait for CARLOS to get off his lunch break and fix this? Why can't anyone explain to me what the problem is? After waiting around for awhile some other girl who was supposed to be an authority figure came to the counter and all three of them hovered over the ad as she read it aloud. It was like story time at the customer's expense. She said I think you have to buy more than just the game. I think you gotta buy 2 Guitar Hero games. I said Are you sure? Cause you sound like you are guessing. She didn't like that I was confronting her on this topic and focused her attention away from me and on her screen and started typing. I mentioned that the print ad offers a $15 gift card and the website offers the same deal. She said The website is different from us. In the end they refused to give me a gift card so I returned the game and got my money back. I arrived home empty handed and angry for wasting my time. I returned to the website and bought the game WITH the free gift card. The website informed me that I could receive my game in as early as 7-10 days. I thought this is such a joke. Just moments ago I received an email from Best Buy that my purchase is on Backorder. So, who knows when I'll get my game? Best Buy, You disappoint me. Your employees are uneducated, your customer service is terrible and your advertisements and promotions are misleading. It is a such a displeasure to shop in your store.

Laurel Meets Katya

Laurel Meets Katya
Made by Rob Boudon
It must have been around 10AM when I lifted the covers off Katya's face and I'm like hey, just so you know, Laurel is coming over, she'll be here in less than 45 minutes. I'm gonna go pick up a cake for her cause its her birthday! I love it when two friends who I'm close to meet for the first time. It's like two different worlds coming together. It's more than just the two people meeting, it's also yourself meeting yourself. I'll explain... Let's say there are two different people and each one says the exact same phrase to you. Would you have the same response for both? Probably not. Why? Because we interact with people differently so they can best comprehend our intentions and sometimes even get a laugh or two out of it. When you are in a position to hang with two people who know you very well, each one is familiar with your personality, but in a different way. It's interesting to see what interactions are best for the group, which jokes everyone laughs at and which topics become non-issues. You act one way with one person and somewhat differently with another... when together, you become a blended up version of yourself. The same thing happened when Sandra and Christina met for the first time at the pillow fight in the . Howabout dat? Anyway, I was super-happy these two gals finally had a chance to meet. They are both very special to me and watching the two of them interacting was a joy. We celebrated Laurel's birthday, had some good talks and watched a little Six Feet Under. Katya and I have been watching all the episodes together and we are down to the last few ones of the last season. Laurel and I did the same thing like a year or two ago. I swear, I still push the show on everyone I meet. Aside: When Six Feet Under ended in 2005 all my friends who watched it with me dressed up in funeral attire and watched the last episode as if we were participating in a actual funeral. It was a great night... but sad too. :-/

Donkey Kong (Stuck In)

Donkey Kong (Stuck In)
Made by Rob Boudon
CURSE THE PHOTOG! RETRO POST!!! I recommend viewing this pic in it's FULL SIZE to really see what is going on. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a classic video game nut. Back in 2004 I was learning to use photoshop and decided to use myself as a guinea pig by placing images of me into some Donkey Kong games. Dude, I'm totally holding a banana in the Donkey Kong Jr. Post... Brilliant! Below is the actual text from those old blog posts... Donkey Kong - 10/6/2004 | Comments (16) C'mon Mario just pick up the barrel! Let's go! How are we ever gonna rescue Pauline from Donkey Kong with all your slackin'. Sheesh. I gotta tell ya, Pauline (the girl in distress) is a total Monet... she looks pretty good from far away but up close its just a big ol' mess. Donkey Kong Jr. - 10/8/2004 | Comments (7) Geez Mario, Just when I thought you were cool, you gotta pull some sh*t like this? Why are you attacking a poor baby chimp with metal traps? I hope P.E.T.A. doesn't ever find out about this game. I also noticed you have blue facial hair, is that a genetic thing or just a really bad idea from your stylist? Donkey Kong 3 - 10/9/2004 | Comments (3) These Donkey Kong games get weirder and weirder. In this one Donkey Kong invades a greenhouse and commands bugs to steal flowers. Mario is in jail for his cruelty to animals soooo, Stanley has to ward off these beasts. He does this by shooting bug spray up Donkey Kong's ass. What? Anyway, these flowers smell great! Um... Dara, what are you and Jillian doing here? Donkey Kong Jr. Math - 10/9/2004 | Comments (5) Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Jeez-us this game is boring. I can't believe Nintendo thought kids would learn math through Donkey Kong Jr. A nice thought but not the greatest game. Here's what I learned... Photog + Donkey Kong Jr. Math = Sleep

Court Summons

Court Summons
Made by Rob Boudon
I am summoned to court for riding my bike in the park. Seriously, Is this really necessary? As a bicyclist in New York City, a city that is riddled with automobiles spewing fumes into the air we breathe… I would think that a little more respect would be shown to someone who cares enough to not contribute to the pollution in this city. I really have to commend the NYPD for not only catching me (as wiley as I am) but also interrogating me on the spot. “Do you have any weapons or drugs on you, son?” That was particularly funny because my friends know that I barely even drink, let alone use drugs. Please. I also think it’s funny that I had to ask 3 times what I was being stopped for. The cop asked me again “Are you sure you don’t have anything on you that you shouldn’t?” This time I took off my sunglasses and looked him straight into his dark black shades, burning the plastic off as I gazed and speaking slowly, “No, I don’t have anything I shouldn’t have.” Soon other bicyclists began gathering around me. “What is going on here?” I asked officer number 5. Yes, that’s right, there was a whole van of policemen stopping bikers. They were pulling us all over for riding in the park. If that is the rule, then that is the rule. However, something needs to change because it’s silly. My biggest concern is that with all the troubles in the world, cops have to pick on bikers riding through the park. I’m sorry, but I have a problem with this.

Rage Against The Machine

Rage Against The Machine
Made by Rob Boudon
Rage Against The Machine headlined the Rock The Bells festival at Randall's Island here in New York City. This is the view from my rooftop of the action. I know it looks far away, but trust me the music was totally LOUD! I had never seen RATM before live even though I've been a big fan all these years. They played a solid set covering the best from their 3 studio albums. I was totally happy they ended the show with Freedom and Killing In The Name Of. The best thing about seeing a concert on your roof is when it ends and you watch all the people sloooowly exiting is that you know you only have to walk downstairs and you are home. :) The bands that I have watched while sitting on my roof the last 4 years have been... The Cure, The Strokes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stooges, Garbage, The Dave Mathews Band and now RATM (Wu Tang Clan earlier tonight). I'm sure there were others, but I forget.

Teresa

Teresa
Made by Rob Boudon
WATCH THIS VIDEO I wrote Teresa back in the mid 90's. I started writing Teresa in weird way. Most people think I'm writing about a girl. I guess that's possible, but here's how it really went down... In one of my advertising classes we were creating mock ads. One of the mock ads featured a newspaper with the headline Bad Man Do Bad. I thought it was hysterical (had to be there) and I told myself I wanted to write a song around that line. It just evolved from there. Since it's Videoblogging week 2007, I figured I'd bring this old song back from the dead. Happy Videoblogging week 2007 everyone!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2007

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2007
Made by Rob Boudon
Since I can't make it home this year I was very happy to see that my family sent me a box of carefully packed Apples from Sage's Apples. And it arrived on Christmas Eve! THANX GUYS! You see, Sage's is an Apple Orchard right down the street from our farm and has the best apples in the world. I plan on chopping a few of these bad boys up and drizzling a little cinnamon on them... Delish! Looks like I got a couple Melrose, some Red Delicious, some Golden Delicious, and some Fugi Apples. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! P.S. To my family, I'll be good to videochat around 7 or 8PM tonight.

While I've been playing lots of Super Mario Galaxy lately, for some reason my commute to work has been filled with the music of Metroid. Hmmm, I should prolly pick up the new Metroid Prime for the Wii. Anyway, If you are a fan of the Metroid series you should seriously download these trax from www.metroidmetal.com/songs.html. These songs are by far the greatest covers of the Metroid tunes I've heard. Enjoy! And yes, I still have my NES Metroid with the box. the game is THAT important.

Yeah so, I haven't been doing much Photoshopping lately so I figured it was time. Anyone who knows me knows I never get around to posting ALL the pictures I take. I've got lots that just sit waiting for something interesting to be done with them. This picture is exactly that. I wanted to go for the old-ripped-poster-on-the-brick-wall look with this one. I'm pretty happy with it. I believe has a another live performance coming up. Maybe I'll see you there. ;) Go to her Myspace Page for the deets.

Sooo, Eri says she needs some photos for her MySpace Profile... Yes, Seriously. She tells me this around 4:30PM and I look at the clock and think... Hmmm, I have to leave for work in an hour and I still have to take a shower first. Anyway, we did a fun quicky shoot and these pix are the result. If you don't know yet, Eri G is my podcast/videocasting partner and we are working and filming shows. I'm not saying what it is or releasing any footage till we solidify the show a bit. We've already changed the title like 3 times.

I Had A Dream...

I Had A Dream...
Made by Rob Boudon
I just woke from this strange dream... There I was, walking around Las Vegas on the Strip. I was looking at the casinos and the people and began thinking... I've been living in Las Vegas for almost 4 years now and I really haven't blogged much of the lifestyle there. You know, the money, the women, the gambling, the stage shows, all that good stuff. Then I woke up and thought... Oh, I don't live in Las Vegas, I live in New York City. Whoops. Strangly enough, I did come up with some good ideas for the podcast. :)

Katyusha should look familiar to you. That's cause it's actually , but her stage name from now on is going to be Katyusha. She performed recently at Arlene's Grocery and totally slayed the audience! We put together a little video from that night. Go WATCH IT NOW! I was the cameraman taking all the Black & White video footage. The audio recording is kinda poor, which is too bad cause she sounded amazing that night. Enjoy Kids!

Super Paper Mario

I just picked up Super Paper Mario and I'm excited to toss it in the Wii and check it out. For what I've seen, It looks amazing!. It has a wonderful sense of retro style and gameplay. I should mention that Super Paper Mario is a mix between an RPG and action game. The videos on the internet mostly show the action sequences. If you are looking for the next Super Mario Bros. Game, this is not it.

My buddy Chris called me and said he needed some EMERGENCY HEADSHOTS! He's trying to get a part in a new Denzel Washington movie and wanted the pictures to reflect the role. You know how I can tell Chris is a good actor? For the shots with the brick background he looks very composed and comfortable when really he was balancing himself awkwardly over a 15 foot drop straight down into broken glass, garbage and sharp scary objects. Well done Chris.

I found some old Magic: The Gathering cards I MADE back in college. Yup, I was such a big fan of this game back in the day that I made these powerful cards from scans of the originals. To put it in perspective, the original cards could cost between one to three thousand dollars each (depending on their quality). These cards cost me a few hours and some double-stick tape. I haven't played Magic: The Gathering in years. Who wants a game?

Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My Sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down to the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita. - Vladimir Nabokov (Lolita)

Final Fantasy XII or Legend Of Zelda???

Final Fantasy XII or Legend Of Zelda???
Made by Rob Boudon
I'm at the crossroads... I have to play one of these games first. I've been playing lots of Guitar Hero 2 and Wii Sports lately. I like both of those games cause you can just pick them up and play without much commitment. Now it's time to start a quest... I know I can't do two quests at the same time, so I have to decide... Final Fantasy or Zelda? Which would you choose?
