Project C.I.N.E.M.A.T.I.C.: Modern revisitation of Narcissus's Myth
Made by Siannon
In the most famous version, the tale told by Ovid, thought to have been based on Parthenius' version but altered in order to broaden its appeal, Echo, a nymph, falls in love with a vain youth named Narcissus, who was the son of the blue Nymph Liriope of Thespia. The river god Cephisus had once encircled Liriope with the windings of his streams, and thus trapping her, had seduced the nymph, who gave birth to an exceptionally beautiful boy. Concerned about the welfare of such a beautiful child, Liriope consulted the prophet Tiresias regarding her son's future. Tiresias told the nymph that Narcissus would live to a ripe old age, if he didn't come to know himself. When he had reached his sixteenth year, (fifteen years of age, by modern reckoning) every youth and girl in the town was in love with him, but he haughtily spurned them all. One day when Narcissus was out hunting stags, Echo stealthily followed the handsome youth through the woods, longing to address him but unable to speak first. When Narcissus finally heard footsteps and shouted Who's there?, Echo answered Who's there? And so it went, until finally Echo showed herself and rushed to embrace the lovely youth. He pulled away from the nymph and vainly told her to leave him alone. Narcissus left Echo heartbroken and she spent the rest of her life in lonely glens, pining away for the love she never knew, until only her voice remained. Echo had prayed to the goddess of love, Venus (Nemesis in some versions), to take revenge on Narcissus for rejecting her so. Nemesis heard this prayer and sent Narcissus his punishment. He came across a deep pool in a forest, from which he took a drink. As he did, he saw his reflection for the first time in his life and fell in love with the beautiful boy he was looking at, not realizing it was himself. Eventually, after pining away for a while, he realized that the image he saw in the pool was a reflection of himself. Realizing that he could not act upon this love, he tore at his dress and beat at his body, his life force draining out of him. As he died, the bodyless Echo came upon him and felt sorrow and pity. His soul was sent to the darkest hell and the narcissus flower grew where he died. It is said that Narcissus still keeps gazing on his image in the waters of the river Styx. {Explored 06/08/2010} Thanks everybody. I suggest to look at my stream on Fluidr .

Spanischer Saal
Made by Soupflower
....sorry, slightly overexposed. But I was so impressed by the details in this Spanish Hall that I didn't want to withhold this picture. It's hard to describe the athmosphere in this room, I was just so amazed by the beauty of this place. Spanischer Saal in the Ambras Castle in Innsbruck, Tirol, Austria. Perched high above Innsbruck, Ambras Castle can be seen for miles around and is one of the most important sights of the capital of Tirol. Ist historico-cultural significance is inseparably linked to the personality of Archduke Ferdinand II (1529-1595), a genuine Renaissance prince who promoted the arts and sciences. He founded the magnificent Ambras collections, and in the Lower Castle he built a museum created with the most modern criteria in mind. The present-day presentation attempts to reconstruct the archdukes Chamber of Art and Curiosities (Kunst- und Wunderkammer), his Armoury of Heroes and other armouries as well as his Antiquities Collection. In Ferdinands time the Upper Castle served as living quarters. Today the three floors house the Portrait Gallery with its images of the Habsburgs from Albert III (1349-1395) to Emperor Francis I (1768-1835). More than 200 portraits are on display, including precious works by renowned artists such as Lucas Cranach, Sir Anthony More, Titian, Van Dyck und Diego Velázquez. On the ground floor of the Upper Castle is the Collection of Late Medieval Sculptures, the showpiece of which is the Altar of St George commissioned by Emperor Maximilian I.

Landesgericht Innsbruck

View On Black Gangster's Paradise ♫ ... Image shows the Regional Court in Innsbruck. Recently there was a spectacular trial involving several officials of our local Tax Office who worked as tax accountants for some Tyrolean Companies. These officials approved their own work while working in the Tax Office. Talk about a conflict of interest. Well... the financial loss for the Republic of Austria was about € 20.000.000. The fines were very mild; some of the impeached officials are still employed, and some had disciplinary proceedings... but the highest fine was a monetary penalty of € 2.500.000 plus a 20 month prison sentence. For those, who were aquitted, the criminal presumption of innocence was what saved them. The presumption of innocence (Unschuldsvermutung) is a very popular and important word in Austria, which is often used by our former Finance Minister (currently under suspicion of tax fraud and corruption) and other Austrian politicians. The presumption of innocence was the chosen phrase of the year in 2010 in Austria ... Amen...

Zigori stechen

View On Black Dandelion ♫ ... Our Son Nino cutting Dandelion for the first Time in his Life - we call it Zigori stechen in our Dialect. It is an old Tradition of my Wife's Family to do this. It is only possible to do it in the early Spring, because only the very, very young Dandelion can be used to make a delicious Salad. This old Tradition is nearly unknown nowadays. - Recipe (as shown on the Photo in the Comment): Cook Potatoes and cut in Slices. Cut Bacon Bits and roast them. Wash the Dandelion. Put all together in a Bowl and flavor with Salt and Pepper, Oil and Vinegar. Mingle everything well and serve with Eggs and Bread. You can also use the Salad as a Side Dish to several Meals (remember to use only very, very young Dandelion - the old one is quite untasty and bitter...). A delicious Meal given by Nature - bon Apetit!

It's a chartered Train of Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe - IVB on Line N° 6 from Innsbruck-Bergisel up to Igls. A great Festivity with Accordion-Music was going on inside. Maybe a Jubilee or Birthday - I don't know. Line N° 6 leads very idyllic through the Forest. Photo was taken at Station Tantegert in the Middle of Nature. The Grandfather of my Wife drove such a Vehicle - he sure handled this one too. We have a Photo of him, which shows him very proud in his stunning Uniform.

Large ... This Photo was taken at a grand Day out in Nature with our Son. We had a lot of Fun there, playing Cowboy and Indian. After a While we made a little Break. We sat on a Stump and my Son (9) layed his Hand on my Sholder and said: Papa, thank you for making this Trip with me. Well, I often make a Trip with my Son, but I never ever expected a Thank for that... nevertheless this Sentence made my Day, because I knew, that he really enjoyed the Time with me. It was just a little Episode in Life, not worth mentioning. But I guess, I never will forget this for my Lifetime... - Dad is grateful ♫

The last one
Made by stetre76
The Last One - maybe a bit a strange name for a photo like this one. but there is a reason behind it, why i titled it like that. earlier today I went for a small phototour in a nearby canyon to take some long-exposure waterscape photos. well, i was able to take exactly 5 photos and this was the last one. i was just preparing to take the sixth photo of the day, and wanted to remove a branch from the creek. my camera was on the tripod, well away from the water - well, not far away enough... the tripod fell and my EOS 40D was in the water > Game Over so, this definitely was the last one this camera ever shot... (on monday the cam goes to the Canon Service point, but i am afraid that repairing it will be almost as expensive, as buying a new one...)

Best View On Black Is there anything more exciting than weather? Quote: Wolkenfahnderin. Our nature is so great, can not steer away from us, offers a variety of performances with infinite power. Water can be beneficial, is vital for us all, but can also destroy life. Lightning is beautiful to look at, but also of destructive power. Wind can cool, but also blown away. But without air, we are nothing. It fascinates me every day again. One day I will surely unite me with the elements and go back into their circulation. ~ ♫ 2012 Soundtrack - Vitaliy Zavadskyy ♫

Mercatino di Natale alpino - Alpine Christmasmarket
Made by Cristina 63
We are at Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, in these days center of very four Christmas Markets. The most evocative is sure this, situated on the right side of the Inn river. From the other side watches the colorful facades of the houses. On the background, the innevate tops of the Alps, that they encircle the town.
