The Tube

This is Pritzker Laureate Rem Koolhaas-designed tube, a concrete and stainless steel tube that encloses a 530-foot stretch of the Green Line elevated railroad (L) tracks, passing directly over Illinois Institute of Technology's new one-story campus center building. The tube dampens the sound of trains overhead. Nikon D70, f/25, 1/6 sec, Nikkor 24-120mm VR on tripod with VR off.

Spent the day with and and in the morning we were on the IIT campus, checking out the Mies van der Rohe architecture. We couldn't get into the Carr Chapel, but Ben had this idea of looking in via the lens hood. It worked pretty well!
