inspired by boys - pamela hanson. Boys: there is no such thing as a grown-up person, especially if we are talking about men. Boys know right from the start they are blssed with a God-given right to immaturity, though they are often loath to admit it to themselves, or to one another, and never to the girls. They exercise this right whenever they flirt, show off, look in the mirror when someone is watching, trying to act cool, impress other boys, make leaps that risk physical or emotional injury, smoke cigarettes, get wet, drink alcoholic beverages, get near automobiles that go fast, and play with children, sharp objects, or girls. - Dirk Wittenborn Beauty is as beauty does. :)

This is where Joni Mitchell was singing about when she sang that song. The pink hotel she speaks of is on the beach behind the big square one in the center of the picture. You can see some of their pink furniture on the beach. The Royal Hawaiian is actually one of the first 2 original hotels on Waikiki Beach and it has class. The other of the first 2 original hotels is the one on the bottom center of the photo and is my favorite in Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider. The surfrider definately has class. Look at the huge banyan tree in the courtyard on the beach side of the surfrider. They do a really nice job at Christmas with the old time victorian decor.

Day 114: On the last night of our Hawaiian vacation, we took a midnight stroll along the beach. The temperature was a balmy 76 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius) with a gentle sea breeze. I took this shot of Duke Kahanamoku's statue with a longer exposure to capture the waving palms and leis. Each time I leave Hawaii, I leave a little of myself behind. One day, I'll come back here to live and make myself whole.

This is a huge tree outside the big pink Waikiki Beach Hotel. I took the photos for playing with the panorama maker software that came with my camera. This is a snap of the composite. Looks like there are still a couple of stitches dropped in the knitting, but you can get a idea of the scene.

Mom and Danny Couch

A couple days before my dad's memorial service we attended a lua where the Hawai'ian pop singer Danny Couch performed. He was one of my mom and dad's favorite singers and so after the show my brothers and I were able to have her meet him.

Modernistic apartment building on the mauka side of Koa Avenue, behind the Waikiki Biltmore and later the Hyatt Regency. Still there today looking at Google Maps . Is that a 1959 Pontiac in the carport? Pre-zip Irving Rosen Color Production postcard.

I wasn't expecting much here but to my surprise the sushi was good ! They have both regular (Japanese Style), and Hawaiian Style sushi. We had the local style! If you want really good sushi, traditional, in Honolulu, try Yanagi Sushi on Kapiolani.

I was glad I had worked up the courage to start talking to potential subjects. Talking to this guy got him all posed up instead of looking depressing. (All dates/time are EST)
