Sunset behind Hong Kong Island (Explored)
Made by b80399
from Wikipedia: Hong Kong[note 3] (香港) is one of two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the other being Macau. A city-state situated on China's south coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea,[12] it is renowned for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour. With a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.[13] Hong Kong's population is 95 percent ethnic Chinese and 5 percent from other groups.[14] Hong Kong's Han Chinese majority originate mainly from the cities of Guangzhou and Taishan in the neighbouring Guangdong province.[15]

Making a micro-SIM card
Made by kalleboo
Took some cutters to a Comviq kontant prepaid sim and made a microsim for my iPad UPDATE: hello gawker readers! gawker.com/5559346/apples-worst-security-breach-114000-ip... Good thing I didn't actually activate this SIM card :) (it came pre-activated by my friendly Wan Chai Computer Center gray importer, I've never used it) I actually obscure the ICCID of my real SIM card, I only leave the ones of throwaway prepaids visible.

Goodbye Day, Hello Night
Made by Dan Chui (busy)
3 x 5XP HDR panorama of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong island from Kowloon, Hong Kong. This is my first attempt at an HDR panorama and created it from 3 sets of 5XP images for a total of 15 shots. I'm surprised with the final product since there are such stark contrasts in light (especially the sky and clouds) even though all the shots were taken in quick succession! Processed using Photomatix. Applied Nik and Topaz software, merged and cropped, and used Noise Ninja in Photoshop. Feel free to leave a comment!

Pink Mushroom
Made by Dan Chui (busy)
7XP HDR shot from Hong Kong. This image was taken from the same vantage point as () but closer to the blue hour, I think. It's always interesting to find out what colors and clouds you'll capture at that particular moment - in this case, it seems I managed to capture a giant pink mushroom! :P Processed using Photomatix. Applied Nik and Topaz software, cropped and sharpened the image, and used Noise Ninja in Photoshop. Feel free to leave a comment!

Looking Forward to Tomorrow [Explored]
Made by Dan Chui (busy)
7XP HDR shot from Hong Kong. Thought that the sun-setting behind the faraway mountains was almost like an explosion of sorts lol Cropped this image into a near-perfect square to try things out... might decide to do more square crops going forward! Processed using Photomatix. Applied Nik and Topaz software, sharpened the image, and used Noise Ninja in Photoshop. Feel free to leave a comment! 7/16/10 - Front Page Explore! - Thanks everyone!

Faraway Eyes
Made by Bobby Alcott
She was sad and distant. We caught a glance on the ferry to Harbour Road and immediately, I knew she didn't want the thought - much less the intrusion - of my lens. I disarmed her with a slow, understanding smile. She acknowledged me with a honest but pained smile, then slowly turned her head toward Kowloon, at what lay ahead this day. Whatever it was, it made her sad. Unmistakeably so.

Moody morning in Hong Kong
Made by Daryl Chapman - Bauhinia photography
Very average morning in Hong Kong during the winter.... apart from it being cool (which is great) the rest of the weather then is rather depressing! This was 8.30am on a February morning. Here was can see a famous Star Ferry, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center with Wan Chai to its right. Fading away in the gloom is Causeway Bay.

Hong Kong Tug Boat (香港)

Another shot from the honeymoon. This is Hong Kong Island as seen from the Star Ferry (Hong Kong to Kowloon). This is a HDR created from a single RAW file. This really does look best viewed large on black ....
