Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan
Made by Jazmin Million
Corey Woods (born January 12, 1970), known by his stage name Raekwon, is an American East Coast rapper and a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. Raekwon may not have achieved the solo stardom of his fellow Wu-Tang Clan members Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard or RZA but along with Genius/GZA and frequent partner Ghostface Killah, he's done some of the most critically acclaimed work outside the confines of the group. His 1995 album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... is widely considered to be one of the best Wu-Tang solo albums, and one of the finest and most influential hip hop albums of the 1990s. Over the years, Raekwon has become known for staying true to his New York street fan base and making little effort to appeal to those outside of the city. In The Wu-Tang Manual, RZA explains that Raekwon also derives the chef moniker from his experience as an actual chef (He was known for cooking up some really good fish.) However, the Wu-Tang Manual also defines chef as a cocaine cook. Additionally, the term fishscale is known to denote cocaine, as with Ghostface's album, Fishscale. The Wu-Tang Clan is a New York City-based hip-hop musical group, consisting of nine American rappers. Among its members are multi-platinum selling solo artists, multi-platinum record producers, Grammy winners, TV and film stars, screenwriters, product spokespersons, business owners and, most recently, major motion picture composers. The Clan featured nine MCs until the death of Ol' Dirty Bastard in 2004.[1] One of the most critically and commercially successful hip hop groups of all time, Wu-Tang Clan shot to fame through their uncompromising brand of hardcore rap music. Since their debut, they have introduced or launched the careers of numerous other artists and groups, and already in 1994 there were credited to be over 300 Wu-Tang Clan affiliates,[2] known as the Wu-Tang Killa Bees, consisting of rappers, producers, and record label CEOs.[1] Seven of the nine Clan members are convicted felons. FBI Infiltration The Wu's influence is so extensive that the FBI has investigated them and even placed an informant within the group's circle. In 2000 the Village Voice ran a story about the FBI infiltrating the Wu Tang Clan through a criminal-turned-informant named Michael Caruso who got a job as the personal manager for Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna. Several other members of the group did not like Caruso; however, his ties with Ghostface and Cappadonna got him into the inner circles of the Wu.[32] Due to Caruso's criminal past he was prohibited by law to associate with felons (which many members of the Clan are) or leave the state of New York; these restrictions were later lifted in return for his providing information on the group. The federal government looked the other way and allowed Caruso to tour the country with Wu-Tang as in exchange for reports on Wu-Tang's involvement with gunrunning and the Gambino crime family. Caruso was subsequently fired from all duties regarding the Wu-Tang Clan's business when these allegations came to light. RZA forced Cappadonna to fire him as his manager. In spite of this, Caruso still works with Ghostface and is on his new poker team. www.wumusicgroup.com/ www.wutang-corp.com/

Genius/GZA and Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan
Made by Jazmin Million
GZA (pronounced /ˈdʒɪzə/), aka The Genius, (born Gary Grice August 22, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York City) is an American hip hop artist. He is best known as a founding member of the seminal hip hop group the Wu-Tang Clan. In addition to appearing on all the Wu-Tang Clan albums he has released five solo albums and has appeared on many other Clanmates' solo releases. GZA (born Gary Grice, 1966) - He is the oldest member of the group as well as the most experienced, having begun rapping in 1976, when hip hop was still a local New York phenomenon.[45] He was also the first to release an album, Words from the Genius, which was released in 1991 on Cold Chillin'/Reprise. He is known for his laid-back flow and complex use of metaphor, containing references to Samurai films, chess and 5 Percenter teachings. Liquid Swords, his Wu-Tang debut album, is often considered among the group's best work, only perhaps challenged by Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Masta Killa of Wu-Tang Clan
Made by Jazmin Million
The most quiet and mysterious Wu-Tang member, Masta Killa rarely speaks during public appearances and interviews and very little is known about him. I know I seem serious and quiet to a lot of the fans. That's because I take my work seriously. It's not a game. The Clan and I work hard to give you the best, says Masta Killa. I'm bringing back that original Wu-tang sound. I'm bringing the family and fans back together like how everyone remembers...the whole Wu-tang movement. I know what they've been waiting for all these years any they won't be disappointed. The Wu-Tang Clan is a New York City-based hip-hop musical group, consisting of nine American rappers. Downtown Montreal Bike Lanes
Made by adrimcm
New York has been very public in celebrating it's adoption of painted bicycle lanes in Manhattan - however I think that in North America, Montreal deserves some special attention for it's pioneering bold move to create curb- separated (very permanent), bi-directional, bicycle lanes right through the downtown area. Montreal has been quietly installing these lanes in their downtown for a number of years - well before lanes in Manhattan, or planters on Vancouver streets. For engineering schematics see page 44 and the appendices of this: ville.montreal.qc.ca/pls/portal/docs/page/arr_out_fr/medi... A resident friend of mine (normally a driver) commented to me that an increase to respect/watch out for/accept cyclists by drivers had been tangible over the last few years - something she was still surprised by even though she was one of those who found herself being more aware of cyclists. Temperature: a crisp +1 degree Celsius Time: 9:30 am Enabling cycling makes it a lower hanging fruit for all - including for those who may already have a car parked in the driveway. Bike commuting can be an inexpensive and efficient way to work physical activity into our increasingly sedentary lives - imho in a more logical way than the evening or after-work gym schedule.

Moby Concert (Montreal)
Made by Anirudh Koul
Moby Concert in Montreal (Metropolis) on 26th September, 2009. Just before the concert, Moby performed at the Apple Store in downtown Montreal. Listening to Moby with a real band instead of tracks on a turn table was a real treat. Even the background for Go was sung live - by Inyang Bassey. No samples used this time. Apart from the guitar, Moby shuffled between Congas and a Keyboard. The last time Moby came here (March 2008), a snow storm delayed his plane landing (while the crowd was waiting). By the time he came to the venue , the solo performance proceeded for only half an hour till the Police arrived to empty the place (due to Permit timings). Incidentally, I had a plane skidding incident in the same . For more photos, check out the whole set: Moby Concert in Montreal --- Moby Set list for Montreal and Toronto --- A Seated Night, Shot In The Back Of The Head, Wait For Me, Mistake, Flower, Bodyrock, Go, Pale Horses, The Great Escape, South Side, In My Heart, JLTF, Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?, We Are All Made Of Stars, Porcelain, Effected, Walk With Me, Natural Blues, Raining Again (Encore 1) In This World, When It’s Cold, Extreme Ways, Honey, (Encore 2) Feeling So Real

staalplaat soundsystem at mutek 2005
Made by unknown8bit
Conceived by Geert-Jan Hobijn and Carsten Stabenow, this project is regarded by its authors as a Mono Erosive Surround Sound Installation. Resurrecting the mechanic, playful aesthetic characteristic of all the creations from Staalplaat Soundsystem, the Yokomono installation consists of ten vinyl killers—toy car spinning record players, each customised with its own fm transmitter. The emerging sounds are due to a collection of radios that receive the randomly transmitted signals from the toy cars, yet instability and unpredictability ensues since the cars run on batteries and will ultimately die out, hence the term “vinyl killers.” The presence of Yokomono at PLACARD//MUTEK 2005 will offer the occasion for Staalplaat to inaugurate their wireless video extension and entertain certain sonic loops from the likes of Anton Nikkilä, Charlemagne Palestine, Fennesz, fm3, Ignaz Schick, Ilpo Väisänen, Justin Bennett, C.M. von Hausswolff, Phill Niblock, Radian and Tim Hecker. Paul Daniel Frehley (born April 27, 1951[1]), better known as Ace Frehley, is an American guitarist best known as an original member and lead guitarist for the rock band Kiss founded by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. He took on the persona of 'Space Ace' when the band adopted costumes and theatrics. Frehley played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. After leaving Kiss, Frehley embarked on a moderately successful solo career, which was put on hold when he rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. Slava Snow show
Made by NaPix -- (Time out)
Last night in Montreal, the closing act of a fantastic show. Highly recommended. They call him the best clown in the world. His Snow Show is celebrated as a theatre classic of the 20th century (The Times, London). Recognition came unusually early for Slava Polunin, and from that moment on, his fame was unstoppable. This is probably because Slava doesn't do things just like that. Everything in his life is very well considered, very finely weighed - even the most crazy, the most incredible, the most adventurous of feats. In achieving his aims, he is concrete, collected and imperturbable. www.slavasnowshow.com/biography-e.htm

Red lights, Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Montreal, Quebec
Made by Richard McGuire
I was intrigued by the way red spotlights from this building cast their light on the sidewalk and passers by on Saint-Laurent Boulevard near Rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal. This is Montreal's red light district, and a half a block away a hooker saw my camera and offered to work with me to take some dirty pictures. I declined. I set up my tripod at this spot and experimented with long exposures to get a ghosting effect on the passing people. I took more than 50 shots over a half an hour, but never did quite get the effect I wanted. This one and a couple others came closest. Half second exposure at f/6.3.

Pet Shop Boys Concert - Robots singing 'Heart'
Made by Anirudh Koul
Pet Shop Boys Concert in Montreal (Metropolis) on 29th August, 2009 (Pandemonium Tour). The Pet Shop Boys are also performing at Toronto's Virgin Festival on 30th August. Robots singing and playing the synthesizers during Pet Shop Boy's hit single 'Heart'. And this is just the starting of the concert. From the point of props used on the concert stage, this concert would top the list of shows I have seen. Definitely a unique experience. In btw, these robots are actually twins - female dancers who revealed their faces later on in the concert. For more photos, check out the whole set:

Pet Shop Boys Concert Stage Lighting
Made by Anirudh Koul
Pet Shop Boys Concert Stage in Montreal (Metropolis) on 29th August, 2009 (Pandemonium Tour). The Pet Shop Boys are also performing at Toronto's Virgin Festival on 30th August. The Concert Stage was an ad-hoc arrangement of white blocks joined together to form a wall. In the mid of the concert, the crew would jump through the blocks, breaking the wall, climb on top of it, or even pull it to the ceiling, with rotating cubes in the air. Franz Ferdinand Concert - Best Shot Of The Night
Made by Anirudh Koul
Franz Ferdinand Concert in Montreal (Metropolis) on 31th August, 2009. Nicholas McCarthy calling out the crowd to sing along. Have always wanted to get a shadow photo with such concert lighting, finally got the opportunity. The concert had pretty dark lighting, 95% being back lit. So I ended up taking long exposure whenever there was less movement. Taken at 1/10 sec. For more photos, check out the whole set:
