My medium format film camera. Shot wide open at f/3.5 with a shutter speed of 1/250. Kodak Potra 400 NC. Out of all my cameras, I think this one delivers the best results...when I can remember to get everything right...that I usually don't! Here's what happened ...I continually mistake the film advance winder for the focal adjustment knob. Apart from this being incredibly frustrating..dammit I've done it again...it partially rewinds to the previous frame and I can't fix it, so I get an unintentional partial double exposure on the shot. So this is a shot of the side of an abandoned building at Long Pond Ironworks that has half of a busted up chair in it, that's from the previous frame. I'll say this was a happy accident. Framing a picture in bright sunlight through the viewfinder is almost impossible...and I always forget that there is a little magnifier that I can flip up that makes it easy to see the screen, with a grid. How can I forget that! doh. Thanks to cmv I actually 'discovered' that this cam has a max shutter speed of 1/500...and not 1/250 as I thought. Finding this, meant pushing the shutter speed lever with some force ..I guess 80 years or so of gunk would make it a little stiff. Lastly, when I did manage to set the shutter speed and the aperture correctly, it's just a dream. And now I feel ready to tackle my next roll. \

Today i when back to the New Jersey Botanical Garden, but before i get to the garden i did pass the street where i suppose to make a right turn and i anding on a lake where i find beautiful wild flowers and lots of Dragonfly, but for the dragon i did not have my favorite lens the Canon ef180mm L Macro with me, but i have the ef-s 60mm Macro very hard to get to close to the Dragon with that lens, but it did the work , i did took like 200 shot all them beautiful. Is to hard to choice the one you will think is the good one, i will let that work to you my friends. 7/28/08

Ritenour House at Long Pond

At the New Jersey end of Greenwood Lake was the Long Pond Iron Works. Associated with it, was the little village of Hewitt. The Iron works closed down in the 1880's and for all intents and purposes, Hewitt became a ghost town. Many buildings remain and are being protected. What look like windows and curtains are painted wood panels covering the windows. So with the exception of the church and office building, you can't see inside.

Shinnying up a tree isn't all that hard once you understand it's all about coefficients of friction and vectors! LOL And if you do get tired you can always sit back and relax! Actually I don't know if you could call the son of a carpenter a Tree Hugger, and I'm certainly not ready to swap all my wooden stuff for plastic. :{( Though I'm certainly in favor of leaving all the virgin forest we have left in the US as is!

HDR Tonemap of boarded up green house at Long Pond Ironworks. Tree at front of house had obscured the majority of the detail on the porch. When taking the photo, I had not noticed the objects on the porch that were revealed during the tonemapping. This is a composite of four photos. Notice the multiple images of the branches on the left in the foreground. These branches were moving due to the wind.

I dont like the moon!! The big glow is from the moon which I did not see because it was behind the trees. It eventually was visible, but the damage was done. Exposure: 1254 Seconds (About 21 Minutes) f: 3.5 Focal Length: 15mm Iso Speed: 500 I hand held a flash and aimed it at the trees, flashed it multiple times.

A long broken chair by an abandoned building at Long Pond Ironworks State Park. We took shelter here on the old porch waiting for the rain to stop. If you look closely, the window is just painted on a board where the window used to be. So take a pretend seat by the pretend window if you like...

Hewitt Methodist Church

This church served the village of Hewett when the Ironworks was in operation. It looks to have later been a private home. There is a more modern wing added to the right of this picture that includes an unsightly modern garage. The building is empty now.

Monksville Stumps and Ice I

Patterson House

The Patterson House was moved to Long Pond Ironworks in the 1980s when the adjacent Monksville Reservoir was flooded. The windows and doors are boarded up, but they've been painted to look like they're still there.
