Sunset across the Atlantic
Made by Jack Holloway
As you travel west across Southern Africa the landscape becomes, on the whole, drier. Eventually the last 200 odd kilometers are desert -and then you reach the sea: open, wild, cold crashing waters rich in marine life; and a thin foggy belt where icy ocean and baking desert meet. From across the road in front of our house, this was the view. There is only a slight change in the colour of the sand to mark the change from desert sand to beach sand. The village of Henties Bay lies sprawled out along the coast, never more than 1 km deep, but perhaps 20 long. In turn it is part of an endless , barren but beautiful coastline where the Namibians go to get away from the inland heat and indulge their love for surf fishing. Further north lies the infamous Skeleton Coast
