- Helsingborg Castle (or what's left of it) overlooks the harbour, with archways over the steps leading down to the city center. Kärnan, the rectangular-plan tower from the 14th century at the top of the bluff, can be climbed, though the view of the harbour isn't appreciably better than from ground level, and the rest of the city isn't particularly notable.
- Sofiero Castle is a 19th century ocean-side royal castle and gardens located 5 km from the city center. The gardens display local and foreign plants. It's famous for its plantations of Rhododendron, blossoming in early summer. The castle has a restaurant and a modern art gallery. Take bus 219 towards Höganäs.
- Fredriksdal is an ambitious open-air museum with gardens, farm animals, old houses, museums and a theater. To get there, you take bus 1 or 7, both northbound.
- Sancta Maria kyrka - the city's church, built in the 14th century
- RÃ¥dhuset (Town Hall) - in the New Gothic style

Count Magnus Gustafsson Stenbock (Stockholm, August 12, 1664 - Copenhagen, February 23, 1717) was a Swedish military officer at the time of the Great Northern War. He was the son of Gustaf Otto Stenbock and Christina Catharine de la Gardie. He was educated at Uppsala and at Paris, chose the military profession, and spent some years in the service of the United Provinces. Returning to Sweden he entered the Army, and, in 1688, became major. He served with the Swedes in the Low Countries and on the Rhine, distinguishing himself for skill and courage at Fleurus. During the Nine Years' War he was employed not only in the field but also as a confidential agent in diplomatic missions. Soon afterwards, as colonel of the Dalecarlian regiment, he led it in the astonishing victory of Narva. He distinguished himself still more at Dünamünde, Klissow and Cracow. In 1703 he fought the successful battle at Pułtusk, and three years later, having reached the rank of general of infantry, was made Governor-General of Scania. He led the Swedish troops to victory in the Battle of Helsingborg (1710), the last battle between Denmark and Sweden in Scania. He was a great favorite with Charles XII in the earlier campaigns, but later the two drifted somewhat apart. It is recorded that the king, before whom General Lagercrona accused Stenbock of drunkenness, replied that Stenbock drunk was more capable of giving orders than Lagercrona sober. His activities were not confined to war and diplomacy; the University of Lund was under his care as Chancellor for some years, and he had no mean skill as a painter and a poet. He became Privy Councillor in 1710, and Charles gave him his field marshal's baton in 1712. In the same year he invaded Mecklenburg (with but 9000 men) in order to cover besieged Stralsund in Swedish Pomerania. He won the Battle of Gadebusch, but numbers prevailed against him in the end. Cut off in Tönning he was forced to surrender after a gallant resistance, and passed into captivity. During his captivity he produced extraordinary fine ivory miniatures, which often included referrals to the number 51 - a reference to Psalm 51 Have mercy on me, O God [1] Five years of harsh treatment in Copenhagen brought his life to a close. He married Eva Magdalena Oxenstierna on 26 December 1690 in Stockholm. She was the daughter of Bengt Gabrielsson Oxenstierna and Magdalena Eriksdotter Stenbock. The painting Magnus Stenbock i Malmö (Magnus Stenbock in Malmö) was made by Gustaf Cederström in 1892, one of several paintings of Swedish history by this artist.

Helsingborg is one of the oldest cities of Sweden. It has been the site of permanent settlement officially since 21 May 1085 [2]. Helsingborg's geographical position at the narrowest part of The Sound made it very important for Denmark, at that time controlling both sides of that strait. From 1429 the Danes introduced the Sound Duty (Sound Dues), a levy on all trading vessels passing through the sound between Elsinore and Helsingborg.[3] This was one of the main incomes for the Danish Crown. Following the Dano-Swedish War (1657-1658) and the Treaty of Roskilde Denmark had to give up all territory on the southern Scandinavian peninsula, and Helsingborg became a Swedish city. King Charles X Gustav of Sweden landed here on the 5th of March 1658 to take possession of the Scanian lands and was met by a delegation led by the bishop of the Diocese of Lund, Peder Winstrup. At that time the town had a population of barely 1,000 people [4]. The new situation, being a border town, caused problems for the city. The days of conflict were not over. The Danes made many attempts to regain the lost provinces. The last time was in 1710, when 14,000 invaders landed on the shores near Helsingborg. The Battle of Helsingborg was fought on the 28th of February just outside the city, which was badly affected. It took long time to recover and in 1770 the city had 1321 inhabitants and was just slowly growing [4]. On the 20th of October 1810 Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, Marshal of France and crown prince-elect of Sweden (later king Charles XIV John) took his first step on Swedish soil on his journey from Paris to Stockholm [5]. From the middle of the 19th century onwards, however, Helsingborg was one of the fastest growing cities of Sweden, increasing its population from 4 000 in 1850 to 20 000 in 1890 and 56 000 in 1930 due to industrialization. From 1892 a train ferry was put in service, connecting Helsingborg with its Danish sister city Helsingør. A tramway network was inaugurated in 1903 and closed down in 1967. Plans are underway to reintroduce trams in the city. [6]

THE CITY HALL Helsingborg (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhɛlsiŋˈbɔrj]) is a locality and the seat of Helsingborg Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 95,444 inhabitants in 2008.[1] Helsingborg is the centre of an area in the Øresund region of about 320,000 inhabitants in north-west Scania, and is Sweden's closest point to Denmark, with the Danish city Elsinore (Helsingør) clearly visible on the other side of the strait of Øresund about 4 km to the west. Historic Helsingborg, with its many old buildings, is a scenic coastal city. The buildings are a blend of old-style stone-built churches and a medieval fortress (Kärnan) in the city centre, which has stood guard in Helsingborg for over 600 years, and more modern commercial buildings. The streets vary from wide avenues to small alley-ways. Kullagatan, the main pedestrian shopping street in the city, was the first pedestrian shopping street in Sweden. Helsingborg has an elite football (soccer) team, Helsingborgs IF. Their home stadium is Olympia. Henrik Larsson is the most famous of the club's former players.

This turned out to be an awesome find. I saw this side of a building and knew immediately I create something special of it. In reality the building wasn't this tall, as I've stretched it a little to make it look better as a vertical photo. I made many versions of this photo (obviously it's been in and out of Photoshop) and the high resolution ones cause certain dizzyness and headache because of the strenght of the verticals lines. You won't get that from the lower res version. Thank God for ugly buildings! Time: taken on April 21st, 2008, 4.01pm CEST Place: Helsingborg, Scania, Sweden Exp/Apert/ISO: 1/640, f/5.6, 100 Best viewed on original size! It's to avoid the weird effect that is already visible on this photo preview (I don't know it's called).

I believe this is a genuine look of surprise. I shot this monkey in profile and as he heard the shutter release he turned and pulled this face. He was sitting on top of a high platform and probably didn't think humans could see him there. 1/25s (hand-held), f3.5, ISO400, 55mm Micro-Nikkor, manual focus. Welcome Stumblers! On 17 Jan 09 this photo was added to StumbleUpon and my view stats went through the roof! Hope you get a laugh from this little fellow. Feel free to leave a comment if you're a Flickr member. A couple of days later it was also picked up by Red.it, another social recommendation site. March 2010, and this shot has gone feral on Chinese and Russian servers. Looks like I've lost all control of it.

This is a park in Helsingborg. Autumn is about to push the summer away here, but the plants and trees are still beautiful. The sun was setting behind my back with some clouds dimming it down. That light made the trees stand out in the IR-spectra.
