Inside the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche in Munich-Fröttmaning, which is the oldest existing church in Munich and belongs to the small farming village of Fröttmaning which had to give way to a landfill that the city opened in 1954. After the rest of village had completely disappeared in 1969, the church was looted and damaged and would almost have been torn down because a new highway interchange was planned to go right through the cemetery. It took lots of protests until the plans for the interchange were completely redesigned to move it a bit to the north. In 1984, the landfill was going to be extended so that it would have touched the church, but protesters managed to stop this again literally in the last minute. Because the village isn’t there anymore, the church is now only open on special occasions like pilgrimages and guided visitations. There is also a photo of .
