At the base of the Soldier's Tower is a wooden door that leads upwards. Sometimes (the first week of every month I think) this door will be open and the public is allowed into the tower to take a look. I hope to get permission some time to go up there to take photographs. If you look carefully, there is the word Carillon. I don't know the significance of this word.
Soldier's Tower - University of Toronto

Soldier's Tower was built in 1921 to memorialize the men and women who lost their lives during World War I. It's my most favourite feature of the University but unfortunately the tower is in need of repair. The next few pictures show the actual memorial and the stained glass window above the archway.

One photo from my short exploits with a Nikon FE and b&w film. Unfortunately most of the roll was exposed when the roll broke from the canister and we opened the camera with the still film out, which explains the whiteness at the bottom... I miss the SLR.

A strange effect I captured using some prolonged exposure and widened aperature. It looks like the sun is shining through the tower but it isn't! It's actually very dark at the time I took this picture (see previous shots).
