Prefectural Industrial Promotional Hall
Made by ADD Photography
The building was originally designed by Czech architect Jan Letzel. It was completed in April 1915, and the new building was named the Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial Exhibition (HMI). It was formally opened to the public in August that year. In 1921 the name was changed to the Hiroshima Prefectural Products Exhibition Hall, and again in 1933 to the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall. source: wiki

Dome Of Remembrance
Made by MykReeve
The atomic bomb that fell in Hiroshima exploded almost directly above this building - the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall - its target being the neighbouring bridge. The building was the closest structure to withstand the explosion, and has been preserved in the same state as immediately after the bombing.

A-Bomb Dome, Hiroshima
Made by Ruth and Dave
The A-Bomb Dome is the preserved ruins of a former important public building. They nearly tore it down a few times but decided it was an important reminder, and I absolutely agree. It really evokes the utter destruction caused by the bomb, especially having seen models of the flattened city. It's desolate.

A-Bomb Dome & "T-Bridge"
Made by Jon Christall
The bridge you can see in the photo is in the place of the bridge used by the U.S. Airforce as the target for the atomic bomb.
