Age Is No Barrier
Made by ajpscs
no rules, no limitations, no boundaries it's like an art @Ginza is a district of Chūō Ward, Tokyo, AGE IS NO BARRIER Japan's population, currently 128,085,000, experienced a high growth rate during the 20th century, as a result of scientific, industrial, and social changes. Population growth has more recently decreased, because of falling birth rates and almost no net immigration. High sanitary and health standards produce a life expectancy exceeding that of any other nation in the world. The population started declining in 2005, as the 1.067 million births were exceeded by the 1.077 million deaths. Assuming current birth and death rates, the 2005 population of 127 million will decline to 100 million in 2050, and 64 million in 2100--and keep falling. The main problem will be the financial crisis that comes from having a higher and higher Dependency ratio (that is, nonworking young and old compared to working ages.) Ginza Crossing
Made by /\ltus
Bonenkai (year end) parties started last week here in Japan. Its customary to pretty much spend every night of the first two weeks in December going out with various groups of friends, co-workers, industry contacts, and pretty much anyone else you've met at one point in your life ;-) The idea is for all friends/contacts to celebrate the end of yet another (hopefully) successful year and wish each other the best of luck for another healthy and (again hopefully) prosperous following year. As a result I've either been seriously intoxicated or seriously hungover every day this month...ugh. Only one more week to go ;-) Also explains why I have to dig back to an old picture to post, as I've been to bleary-eyed to shoot straight otherwise! Non-HDR pic taken with my compact Canon IXY 910 of Ginza crossing of the throngs of people going about their business in Tokyo, Japan.

Film director, Hayao Miyazaki
Made by Alfie | Japanorama
Hayao Miyazaki, Oscar-winning director of such classic animated movies as 'My Neighbour Totoro', 'Spirited Away', 'Laputa' and 'Princess Mononoke'. I got lots of pics of Miyazaki-san today at the press conference he gave at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan. But this one is a personal fave. Not the greatest news shot, as you cant see all of his face like you can in all of my other shots but he was generally so relaxed and at this very moment having a real chuckle about something. Great to hear the man speak and he really had some great things to say. Plus, at the end I cheekily got a postcard film-still from Totoro autographed by him for my best buddy, Sam, who lives in London. Sam is a massive Miyazaki fan. He'll be stoked. :-) I will drop a link on here to more of the pics from today when I have the story and pics all done.

Tokyo Night Walker
Made by ajpscs
Tokyo Night Walker-YURAKUCHO Yurakucho provides a glimpse of Japanese life from the early postwar period, with its many izakaya (Japanese-style bars, denoted by their red lanterns known as akachochin) and outdoor yakitori restaurants ('yakitoriya'), many of which are located under the train tracks serving Tokyo's JR Yamanote Line. Because of its many traditional Japanese-style eating establishments, as well as its location on the Yamanote Line with easy access to Tokyo Station, Yurakucho is a favorite drinking spot for businessmen on their way home from work. Ciò che non siamo, ciò che non vogliamo.
Made by Dave from Tokyo
Photo taken at Ginza crossing. Chuo ward, Tokyo, JAPAN. The title is taken from a poem written in 1920s by italian poet Eugenio Montale (then Nobel Prize for Literature in 1975). Non domandarci la formula che mondi possa aprirti, sì qualche storta sillaba e secca come un ramo. Codesto solo oggi possiamo dirti: ciò che non siamo, ciò che non vogliamo. Ask us not for the formula to open worlds for you, only some syllable distorted and dry like a twig. Only this is what we can tell you today, that which we are not, that which we do not want.

The Goodrich Groundcam in Ginza: Tokyo, Japan
Made by Alfie | Japanorama
This is me just playing, ahead of using this technique for a more serious photoshoot: camera on monopod, flipped upside down and rested on my shoe. Cable release attached to the camera to fire the shutter. Great aspect. Wanna pan and move the camera, just turn around, pivot your foot. Can be used nice and covertly as well; chin resting on top of monopod, cable-release out of site. Takes a while, if at all sometimes, for people to notice what you are doing. Nikon D300 Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 Shot straight to mono in-camera as JPEG

Rebel without a cause
Made by alexdecarvalho
From Wikipedia: Yamanba (ヤマンバ, Yamanba?) sometimes written as yamamba, is a fashion trend among young Japanese women. Starting with the bleached white hair and heavy tan of the ganguro girl, the yamanba adds white lipstick, white eye makeup, and sometimes brightly colored contacts, plastic clothing, and inappropriate accessories. Some yamanba wear stuffed animals as decorations, talk with a slurred speech, and enjoy shiny neon or dayglo colors. Posted to group.

Ginza Apple Store
Made by /\ltus
As much as I love shooting with my Pentax K10D it isn't practical to carry to/from work everyday given that its a full-sized semi-pro dSLR camera. So bought a tiny Canon IXY 910IS digital camera as my cameraphone, while handy, doesn't quite cut it as a serious camera for shots around Tokyo. Non-HDR 1xp shot taken with my new point-n-shoot Canon of the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo.

Cruising The Ginza; Tokyo
Made by Alfie | Japanorama
Out on The Ginza the other week, sniping the crowds with the 80-200mm lens. I was sat in the middle of the road actually. That seems to attract a few stares and more than one comment from passers-by of 'Hen gaijin 『変がいじん」 Nikon D300 Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 ED IF Shot straight to mono in-camera as a JPEG

This is my first attempt at a HDR photo! I've always been intrigued by the possibilities of digital photography and I can add my own spin to the colors I like! Had to go to one of my favorite spots in Tokyo! Let me know what you think! HDR: 3 exposures at +/-2 EV
