My First Love

My First Love
Made by Ol' Sargе
Hello, Flickr. In case you have been wondering what happened to the Ol' Sarge. I have spent the past few months taking care of this wonderful woman....my Mom. It saddens me to say that my mother, Delphine Cook, lost her final fight on Tuesday, 18 October 2010 at 6:18pm. I was there when she took her final breath after battling double pneumonia, a by product of her fight with lung cancer. Wow, what a fighter. She fought off two bouts of breast cancer, a round of Guillain Barre' Syndrome and finally, lung cancer. In the end, her body was just worn out and could not fight anymore. This was the person who brought me into the world and I am proud to have been there when she left. Rest in Peace, Mom.

Large View On Black This looks like a winter shot, but it's a shot from last week while on the South Carolina coast. I was bracketing shots at +/- 2.0, and this is a high-key (i.e. for me, meaning overexposed) shot from a particular bracketed set. The simple composition and the stark background seem to have turned out well. As always, I'm interested to hear folks' thoughts, whether good or bad.

I know, I know, you're thinking what is Ol' Sarge doing in a boat? Answer: Loving it! Unfortunately, this is not why I have been somewhat MIA on Flickr, just been really busy at work and with nasty, rainy weather and the usual late season cold, I just haven't had the drive to shoot. Well, finally the weather is warming up so look for some new shots soon. Oh, credit goes to Mrs. Sarge for the photo...someone had to drive the boat! Have a great weekend!

Popped in on the River Room in Georgetown for an afternoon meeting, they had just had a pop in for a restaurant reporter Becky Billingsley's twitter.com/RestaurantGal and needed a photo. Lightless and macroless I busted out some old school window light and menu for a reflector, thats right a menu. Not an award winner but not too too bad.

Big Tuna Bar also called by locals as the Old Tuna Bar...great bar for chillin' and drinkin'.... Located on the waterfront of Georgetown, SC and is a popular place for a cold brew, seafood du jour and either white wine or red wine from a box... Not for the snotty or superior but definitely for those who love to have a GREAT time....!!!!!

I had to wait around until all of the cars passed. While standing in the street, a tourist stopped to ask me where the 900 year old tree was - me? the guy with a camera in the middle of the road, hmmm. I guess the locals walk around with cameras in the middle of town also. Now where is this tree?

It's good to be back in town! I went for my first walk with Mrs Sarge and got to use my much missed camera. It rained like crazy last night, so it was a bit muggy early. This? An archway going undeneath our famed clock tower along Front Street in Georgetown, SC USA

This was taken from a small shopping plaza and strip of restaurants that line a pier along the Sampit River in Georgetown, South Carolina. I am surprised by the amount of shots that I have with an umbrella playing a prominent role.

Just posting this for the group (and because I like Quonset huts). I don't know if this once was a full Quonset that was later truncated (to make way for the sidewalk, perhaps?) or if it was deformed from birth.

Walking back from shooting some photos at Morgan Park in Georgetown, South Carolina, I happen upon this little guy, and he hung around long enough for me to get my camera out and catch a few shots

Just posting this for the group (and because I like Quonset huts). I don't think this is a true Quonset hut because it's not made of currugated tin, but it still looks rathe quonset-y.

I guess I have fondness for details of rope and wood, so this is the best of both worlds. Another shot from my photowalk with Mrs Sarge.
