Gentpoort, Bruges, Belgium (start of a series of photos of Bruges and Ghent from a trip with my wife from February 23th - 25th, 2006. We arrived in the evening and shot this at night). This gothic town gate was built by the architect Jan van Oudenaerde at the beginning of the 15th century. In the great upperroom is an open fire where the guards could warm themselves. Of the seven town gates of Bruges four have survived until today. Read here about the very interesting history of Bruges. Das gotische Stadttor wurde zu Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts vom Archtitekten Jan von Oudenaarde errichtet. Von den ursprünglich sieben Stadttoren existieren heute noch vier.
