From the February 2008 strobist meetup. We had a great warehouse to work in with lots of interesting backgrounds. I took a great many pictures of Kari at the end of the day. We had a lot of fun with that maul. Looks like I need to replace this with a more level version. Model: Kari Ann Cole Makeup: Nicole Strobist: 540EZ bare directly behind Kari pointing at the dust collector with CTO. 540EZ in shoot through head height camera left. Both were triggered by Pocket Wizards

Daphne Does It Again

From the February 2008 strobist meetup. We had a great warehouse to work in with lots of interesting locations. Like the photographers who started in the narrow passage between two finished beams, we monopolized this spot for quite a while. We also monopolized Daphne for quite a while. Strobist: 540EZ on top of the right hand stack of beams in shoot-through. 540EZ wedged between beams about 15 feet behind Daphne. (Didn't Fire) Both were triggered with Pocket Wizards

Model: Kari Ann Cole Makeup: Nicole Strobist: 540EZ camera right behind Kari with shoot-through umbrella and CTO. Borrowed strobe camera left in bounce umbrella. Both were triggered by Pocket Wizards.

"Back!"

From the February 2008 strobist meetup. We had a great warehouse to work in with lots of interesting backgrounds. Nellie was a good sport with the fork truck. I always do a close-up of a hand at these things and she was goofing with another photographer by kicking at him. It gave me the idea for this shot. Strobist: 540EZ in shoot-through umbrella camera left. 540EZ bare camera right. Both were triggered with Pocket Wizards.

From the February 2008 strobist meetup. We had a great warehouse to work in with lots of interesting backgrounds. I wish I had moved the back strobe down to the end of the stacks. The shadows work in this one though. Strobist: 540EZ on top of the right hand stack of beams in shoot-through. 540EZ wedged between beams about 15 feet behind Daphne. Both were triggered with Pocket Wizards

Daphne the Fork Truck Driver

From the February 2008 strobist meetup. We had a great warehouse to work in with lots of interesting backgrounds. We decided pretty quickly to ditch the bandana. This shot had a good Rosie the Riveter look I wanted to keep. Strobist: 540EZ in shoot-through umbrella camera left. 540EZ bare camera right. Both were triggered with Pocket Wizards.

From the February 2008 strobist meetup. We had a great warehouse to work in with lots of interesting backgrounds. When I saw the fork truck, I knew I had to use it. When I saw Daphne in her underwear, I knew how to use it. Strobist: 540EZ in shoot-through umbrella camera left. 540EZ bare camera right. Both were triggered with Pocket Wizards.

cheering station

the sun's glare makes this less than great, but it at least gives you an idea of what the cheering stations are like. this was early on a saturday morning, too! this kind of community support is such a big deal. it helps keep the walkers going. we don't even bother watching for people needing to be picked up near them, because we know they're not stopping.

Daphne waits in the wings as Nellie sits on the fork truck. Again, I can't remember who was taking the picture but I think it was Izzy. Long exposure to catch the flashes going off. Taken at the Feburary Minnesota Strobist meetup.

Apparently this is a 100 year old Bucyrus Model 1 spreader, built in 1911. I suspect it's had a fair amount of work done since then, but still, not bad, eh? If you have any more information on this spreader, I'd love to hear it.

Thong and Shanna(?). I got a hard time handed to me for using on-camera flash but it sure made the reflective vest pop. Taken at the Feburary Minnesota Strobist meetup.

More brain, less gear, better light. Still a lot of gear when you get a bunch of photographers together. Taken at the Feburary Minnesota Strobist meetup.
