The lighting here was really not great. flat, and he was backlit. After fiddling with the levels to get an ok light/dark balance the colors were... bleh. So I tried a warming filter on the foreground and a cooling filter for the sky (you can see where they fade into one another because i was lazy about layer masks). it's still not a great photo (and i don't think any amount of post processing could make it so), but i am learning.
