Galway is a perfect base for seeing the , but it is also worth a visit in itself. Although it has only a few typical sightseeing spots what makes it a wonderful place to stay is the atmosphere, the culture, the people, the events.
The pedestrian shopping area south of Eyre Square, is a pleasant place to walk around. And if the traditional Irish rain starts, just visit the Eyre Square shopping center, where they have put a roof above parts of the old town wall and so included them into the shopping mall, a beautiful combination of old and new.
At the south end of the pedestrian mall, is the Spanish Arch, one of the few remaining parts of the town's ancient defenses. The park adjacent to the arch is a popular place to sit and relax, while watching the Corrib flow out into Galway Bay.

As far as the colours go, I followed a tutorial on processing IR photos and going by it, this was the only photo that had been correctly taken. I'm much happier with the colours in this one. You can see my original attempt at processing it . Menlo Castle, as photorgraphed in IR from Dangan, Galway City, Ireland. EDIT: Here's the tutorial.

This is my very first stab at a HDR photo. As I said , stick with what you know. Anyways. It's composed from one raw shot, imported at different exposures. I could pick out a dozen things wrong with it, but hey. The sky is all in one piece and the clouds aren't too washed out in glare and the colours aren't comicy.

This is a HDR of St. Mary's church in Claddagh, in my usual style: Three bracketed exposures that I composed using Photoshop's HDR tool, then bleached. I dodged and burnt thereafter to recover highlights and shadows. I captured the church before; you can find the original shot
