Frauenkirche, München The legend: If you step into this footprint and look up toward the alter, you cannot see any side windows; and from 1622 until 1860 you could not see the back window either because it was covered by a huge Renaissance Alter. The architect supposedly made a deal with the Devil to help build the church so long as there were no windows. Once finished, the Devil came into the church believing there were no windows, but could not walk further since it had been consecrated. Realizing he had been tricked, the Devil stomped his foot in anger, turned himself into the wind and tried to blow down the church. To this day, there is always a strong wind blowing around the Frauenkirche.
