This is Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) in Dresden, Germany. It was destroyed in the firebombing of February 1945, and was just rebuilt about 10 years ago. The darker bricks within the sandstone bricks are all that remains of the original. They were scorched black by the fires. This was a common theme in Dresden - beautiful palaces, churches, buildings, many burned irreversibly black by nights of fire. The statue to the left is one of my heroes, Martin Luther. :)
