Conglomerate

Conglomerate
Made by canadianlookin
This boulder is made of a variety of well rounded pebbles in a dark grey, sandy matrix. This sedimentary rock, a conglomerate, was deposited between 1.85 and 1.84 BILLION years ago by a river system that originated in a large mountain range to the north. The mountains formed as a result of the collision of two small continents. The mountains were eroded, and rock fragments were carried by streams to their present resting place. You can see some of the rock types that make up this conglomerate - white quartz, grey chert, dark volcanic rocks, granite pebbles, and red jasper. This boulder is also called ERRATIC because it consists of a rock type that is not found in the Flin Flon area.

A Rock With A View!

A Rock With A View!

Even from the top of the hill, you can barely see any sign of life when looking to the north... just the walking trail at the bottom of the hill, and occasionally you see traffic travel through the rocks where the highway is.

Sewer Boxes

Sewer Boxes

In a town built upon the rock, you cannot simply bury the sewer pipes under the ground as in most cities. There are areas of the city where these boxes house the sewage pipes from local houses and businesses upon the rock!

I left my mark at the bottom of the stairs... a warning to those that come after us... 130 stairs... it doesn't sound like much... but... my calves will readily argue with you on that!

Purchased Boardwalk Boards

Purchased Boardwalk Boards
Made by canadianlookin
As a means to maintain the boardwalk, people from all over could purchase a board on the boardwalk for $100 ... this one was purchased by Darrell's grandmother Vicki Davidson.
