US Navy Memorial 701 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC The mission of the United States Navy Memorial is to honor the men and women of the United States Navy (and the rest of the Sea Services) – past, present, and future. The Navy Memorial takes great pride in recognizing the service and sacrifices of men and women in uniform and their families. We remind the public of the contributions of our nation’s historically significant maritime figures through interactive exhibits and our annual Lone Sailor Award; we commemorate the sea service experiences of more than 600,000 veterans through The Navy Log; we celebrate the service of today’s active duty through the Sailor of the Year program; and we offer dedicated youth programs to educate potential future sea service personnel about the value of military service. The west pool honors international navies; the east pool honors the men and women of the United States Navy. Both pools have been salted with water from the Seven Seas and the Great Lakes.

FBI Building

The FBI's Hoover Building in Washington DC seems to have a higher density of flags than anywhere else in the city. Are they afraid that people will think they are not sufficiently patriotic? I wonder was anyone scrutinizing me from inside as I stood there for several minutes taking shots. It was probably a good idea to not be taking pictures of the extensive security features around the building. [IMG_6021-fbi]

The largest view is worth the click on this one -- the detail of the stone is pretty visible. These heads appear above the arches shown nextdoor in my photostream -- farm2.static.flickr.com/1105/532535120_17f77a15a3_o.jpg -- and IRL @ Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC.

This is an enormous space, note the red hue from those weird neon lights.
