Golden Inside

Golden Inside

The Medieval Centre is an experimental museum where you can experience life in a reconstructed late 14th century market town. as stated on their webpage. One speciallity are the volunteers in the Middelaldercentret. They live in the village for about a week, keeping live up for the tourists and the shown daily work running. This gives the village really the character of a village and not of a museum. The second room of the house. Seems to be a working place for dying, maybe in combination with a kitchen. Again standing in the door frame to the last room and with the golden light of the setting sun through the window. The house is the first one on the left side of the harbour area, white one, with a red roof and the roofed over outside working place. Taken : 30.03.1992. With a heavy frost and steam heat discharging from the locos boiler ex DSB class MX no.1033 sold to LB in 1988 and now numbered M35 stands at Nykobing Falster with a mixed passenger freight working off the private Lollandsbanen line from Nakskov. I have mixed memories of this place as it was freezing cold having got off the 21.27 Aachen to Kobenhavn overnight train with a couple of friends to cover the Gedser branch and train ferry to Warnemunde in Germany we were thwarted by the fact the ferry was off for maintenance and we ended up stuck here for two hours from 06.49 in the morning with no breakfast until a bakers opened around 08.30 near the station. Then half a day lost having to retrace our outward journey back via the Rodby-Puttgarden train ferry to Lubeck then on into what was East Germany.

It was so beautifull in the Inn Den Gyldne Svane that we had to come back at closing time to take some pictures. This serving wench was waiting for us to leave the Inn and had no idea I took this picture. This morning

This is a shot of the view from the dike, by my parents house, at daybreak. I live about two hours away by train, but when they called me up at around six in the evening and told me they had 5 cm of snow I jumped on the first train headed in that direction. This is a shot combined of two exposures. I actually wanted to do a 3 exposure HDR, but found that the darkest and the middle exposure put together gave me the effect that I wanted.

I don't get to spend that much time with my dog these days as he is living with my parents. By the way he is named Nambucca after en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nambucca_Heads,_New_South_Wales Home to the most random campsite I've ever visited. Not that I have been to that many. Ahem...

Yesterday we went to the Medieval Centre in Nykøbing. Just stepping back in time. It's always a pity to see all those bloody tourists walking into the frame of your camera just when you want to take a fantastic picture. Especially in this kind of places. They don't belong there!

One of my favorite memories from my childhood. Came by one by chance and just had to have a shot of it. If they made these in man-size I would own one. You can bet my kids are gonna get one as well. My only problem now is: Which should I get first? The bike or the kids?

The history of Corselitze Manor goes back to the 12th century. In 1775 the king handed over the manor to Privy Councillor J.F. Classen whose family today rests in an almost forgotten private graveyard in the middle of Coselitze Hovedskov (a forest).

The private graveyard is still looked after by the gardener of nearby Corselitze Manor. The tiny beech trees surrounding the graves are 80 years old! Just like the big ones towering above. The are kept as bonsai trees.
