I'm up at Lake Tahoe this week, so I got up early to get some shots of the sunrise. I drove over to Fallen Leaf Lake, which is only about 10 minutes from our cabin and I arrived there before anyone else was there. This lake is one of the many lovely little lakes near Lake Tahoe. The big lake (Lake Tahoe) is between the first set of trees and the mountains in the background. It is actually only about 3-4 miles from Lake Tahoe. This view is at the store level (it's a small general store) looking down to the marina and on to the Sierras in the background. I solarized this picture a touch.
Pollen on Fallen Leaf Lake

The fir trees around the lake drop tons of pollen this time of year when the winds come up. Eventually it will get either blown to the opposite shore, or more likely get churned under when the wind picks up a bit more and chops up the lake. The trial through it is from our boat towing the kite from which the camera is suspended.

Another shot of us in our boat on the lake. The wind was gentler today, so we had to head upwind to keep the kite aloft. Here the boat is going about 5 or 6 mph, by the time we got to the other end of the lake we had to go about 15 mph. The stuff on the surface of the lake is pollen from the fir trees. All natural, don't worry.
