Esbjerg is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region") on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. Its mayor is Johnny Sřtrup, from the Venstre (Center-Right Party) political party. By January 1, 2007 the old Esbjerg municipality was, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), merged with former Bramming and Ribe municipalities to form the new Esbjerg municipality. This municipality has an area of 741 km˛ and a total population of 114,097 (2005).

- Fisheries and Maritime Museum, The Fisheries and Maritime Museum is the largest institution of its kind in Denmark focusing on Danish fisheries and marine biology, the tidal wetlands (Wadden Sea), west coastal shipping and the North Sea offshore industries. So the theme of the museum can truly be said to be "people and the sea"

This 9m high sculpture was made by Danish Artist Svend Wiig Hansen in 1995. It depicts four anonymous men overlooking the sea towards the island of Fanø.The massive yet strangely light and bright white sculpture absorbs the daylight and thus seems to be changing color with the time of day.
