The nail that sticks out...
Made by Road Fun
...gets hammered down (rough translation of a Japanese proverb regarding conformity). Explore October 21st. Scout says it made it as #65. I highly recommend . There was a railroad track right next to the Festival. I would have loved to spend time photographing around the track but the Princess was job 1. I did manage this quick photo as the nails really caught my eye. Shortly after this a large freight train went by and I held the Princess as she watched in awe. She has ridden small trains but has never been right next to a long freight train before. It was humongous! :-) Be forewarned more Festival pictures are in store for this week ;-) Have a good Tuesday everyone and thanks for commenting, visiting and being such good friends.

Pierce Park Memorial
Made by glennaa
Monument in Ennis, Texas to those of the Dallas Division who died in WWII. I thought that maybe the Dallas Division was a military designation, but after poking around on the internet, found this website that explained that it was actually Southern Pacific Railroad terminology for their regional office. All the dead on this monument worked for Southern Pacific and the land for the park was also donated by the railroad.

3 Kittens 3
Made by kevbeaux
Let me first say, these Kittens are NOT ours, nor are they going to be OURS, so don't start on me. Not that I wouldn't take them all, but that's not the point. But they are so cute and Sophie wants so bad to play with them. I'm in the process of looking for homes. Nonie, how many can I put you down for? Kim? The little black one is definitely related to Sammy, as are most in the neighborhood. This is exactly what Sammy looked like when he adopted us in 2001.

Venite adoremus
Made by Nazianzus
Adoration with exposition was occurring when we visited the church. Unfortunately, our two-year old made too much noise and disturbed those who were praying. Fruit Kolaches
Made by glennaa
A box of a dozen fruit kolaches from the Kolache Depot Bakery in Ennis, Texas. Prune, poppyseed, cherry, and apple. They're better than donuts. Somehow, around Houston, when most people talk about kolaches, they aren't talking about these anymore - they are usually talking about klobasnek - which are more like pigs in a blanket.

Robinson R-22
Made by Texas Flyer
This is a helicopter from Silver State Helicopters. They just close the doors to all of their 40+ locations and booted around 850 employees on the street and left so many poor people with insanely large debts and incomplete training. I feel for everyone involved with this situation! The guys in this helicopter took a break from their training to have a bite to eat with us.

Alarm clock with Ipod dock
Made by glennaa
I had a free hotel night that expired by the end of the year, so I decided to use it on my drive to the DFW metroplex. I stayed in the Quality Inn, Ennis, Texas. I was surprised to find this as the alarm clock - it actually has an Ipod dock and remote.

Break On Through
Made by Dan Maxwell
This is from an earlier reunion, (25, I believe), where I was asked to help break through a banner like the football team used to do. I re-photographed this from an album on display at this reunion.
