I intended to just get a few shots of the school, then concentrate on the river nearby, but was astonished at how beautiful this building was (I hope the little rugrats appreciate it too!). I circled twice, once with my 24-70 and again with my 80-200. I’ll do that a lot it seems. Sweep once with one lens then again with the other, rather than back and forth, back and forth. So while I am shooting wide, I am also taking note of what I’ll shoot telephoto in “round two”


Elbow river bridge

Calgary has a slew of these wooden pedestrian bridges. Most (if not all) cross the Elbow river in the older, nicer parts of town. They're all painted parks-and-rec green and wobble if you bounce right on them. I hope they are never replaced by a lawyer/safety-council approved alternative. August, 2005.

yours truly grew a pretty awful stash for the event. although in fairness it completely rules and i loved it. i had to grow a beard around it for the few days i was in victoria, but in calgary i was just one of the crowd looking like this.
