Just a square crop. Hope everyone's day is a good one:-))xx www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB8G0SFmJ1g He remembers the first time he met ‘er He remembers the first thing she said He remembers the first time he held her And the night that she came to his bed He remembers her sweet way of sayin’ Honey has somethin’ gone wrong He remembers the fun and the teasin’ And the reason he wrote ‘er this song I’ll give you a daisy a day, dear I’ll give you a daisy a day I’ll love you until the rivers run still And the four winds we know blow away They would walk down the street in the evenin’ And for years I would see them go by And their love that was more than the clothes that they wore Could be seen in the gleam of their eyes As a kid they would take me for candy And I loved to go taggin’ along We’d hold hands while we walked to the corner And the old man would sing ‘er his song I’ll give you a daisy a day, dear I’ll give you a daisy a day I’ll love you until the rivers run still And the four winds we know blow away Now he walks down the street in the evenin’ And he stops by the old candy store And I somehow believe he’s believin’ He’s holdin’ ‘er hand like before For he feels all her love walkin’ with him And he smiles at the things she might say Then the old man walks up to the hilltop And gives her a daisy a day I’ll give you a daisy a day, dear I’ll give you a daisy a day I’ll love you until the rivers run still And the four winds we know blow away

This is #5 in my 100 Strangers Project. Find out more about the 100 Strangers Project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the . The Skinny: Gordon owns Storybrooke Breads in Steveston - a charming little neighbourhood in Richmond, BC. I was shooting the bakery from across the street; Gordon was sitting outside. He calls out in his wonderful Romanian accent: Hey, why don't you come inside and have some bread? We go in and see a small counter and a huge brick oven, with the dough all formed in loaves on slats. Artisan style... May I take your photo? Only if you try the bread...it's good Romanian staple... You're Romanian? Yes, the country that gave us the best dictators... What kind of breads to you sell? Only one...what other kind do you need? As we're talking an older Chinese couple come walking by. He starts talking to them in fluent Mandarin. The man is stunned. Gordon continues speaking with them. My friends and I are equally stunned. He goes back outside and starts corralling more people: Come in and have some bread. We welcome pirates, too! (to a man wearing a black shirt with a pirate's scull on it) Gordon didn't crack a smile the whole time, but man, was he witty and absolutely hilarious! I'd go there every weekend just to hear him talk. Thank you, Gordon, for participating in my 100 Strangers Project!

"Persistent Aerial Predator" Paddle-Tailed Darner In-Flight at the Richmond Nature Park BC 25Sep2010

"Persistent Aerial Predator" Paddle-Tailed Darner In-Flight at the Richmond Nature Park BC 25Sep2010
Made by frosty_white_raven
This late in the dragonfly flight season, not as many species are about. The shortening days, longer, colder nights and cool rains of strengthening Paciifc storms are not favorable to the survival of adult dragonflies. Many of the familiar perchers are gone, including the Eight-spotted Skimmers, Four-spotted Skimmers and Common Whitetails. A number of the darner species have vanished as well. A few species, however, persist into autumn. This includes the aptly named Autumn Meadowhawk, the Variegated Meadowhawk and the beautiful odonate depicted in the photo above: the Paddle-tailed Darner (Aeshna palmata). I was hoping that some dragons would be around as I tried out my new 60D, and the Richmond Nature Park provided. It will be a long wait till the 2011 flight. I had a lot of fun photographing the darners in flight, though I can not say it was any easier with a 60D verses a Rebel T1i (500D). Maybe the AF is somewhat more sure, but the difference is a matter of degree, not kind.

A different view of Foreshore. I hope you're not getting tired of my Foreshore Park long exposures. This one I think is 232 seconds. I found myself at the same place last night but decided to venture to other view points. Note to self: Next time you go on a night photo outing at a park remember to either put mosquito repelant or simply wear pants and long sleeves or a very light hoody to also protect your head. In short the mosquitos feasted on me. The previous 2 nights weren't bad because I was on a different area. Last night I was in the dark areas of the park. I'm not very happy with the results of the photo above but decided to upload it anyway. With this one I decided to go full blast on the Amber and Magenta adjustment on camera. That explains the colours. I have also discovered that anything I export from LR3 does not have any exif on it. Why? *Update: I updated my plugin (I use Jeffrey Friedl's LR plugin) and it seemed to have fixed the problem with the EXIF.

It's interesting how things happen sometimes. Have you been into a situation where you saw something and thought of reacting to it but then you decided not to at that specific moment? Then later on you changed your mind and did what you thought and it turned out to be a really good thing. The photo above is one good example. I saw this little pink flower while I was walking outside our office this morning. I thought it would be a good subject and thought of taking a picture of it. I was on the phone however so I decided not to do it at that point. Later on, just before leaving work I remembered and said to myself I have 10 minutes before I had to leave so I went and took a few shots. On the process of taking my last shot a bee showed up in my viewfinder. It settled on the flower and posed for me. It then became the subject together with the pink flower and I'm pretty happy that I went back and did what I thought of doing.

Thanks to for the extended play time with his new Olympus m.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8! I gave it a bit of a workout today and I'm definitely sold: this is an awesome piece of glass, especially for the asking price. Excellent sharpness, great smooth bokeh, it focuses fairly quickly (and silently) on the E-P1 (I'm sure it's super fast on the E-P3) and it looks great in retro silver. I've always said the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 pancake is the must-have lens for micro Four Thirds... this is officially the second must-have lens for the format! Britannia Heritage Shipyard, Steveston, Richmond, BC. September 24, 2011. Oh, and our friend in Osaka, Yuko, wanted more photos of wan-chan. So here you go, Yuko!

Once again I found myself going back to this place tonight. There were some clouds so it added to the shot I think. The colours and sharpness are SOOC. I got the colours above by doing my favourite adjustments, added more amber and magenta to WB. And I also decided to do a 4x5 crop instead of the usual 4x6 out of the camera. Another thing, I'm not sure if it's just me but I'm finding that the JPG outputs of the camera are really sharp. It's not obvious at times but it can be seen when you're viewing the image at a big monitor or greater than 50%. It degrades the smoothness of skies or water sometimes and I don't like it. Anyway, I hope ya'll like the above photo.

Mallard x Northern Pintail - male Anas platyrhyncos x Anas acuta At the Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, there are a lot of ducks around, although many of the are 'domesticized' wild mallards - that is, wild mallards who will hound you for a hand-out. But when I saw this fella, I knew instantly that he was something different. It only took a couple of minutes to figure out what. Note the large blue bill, pale chest and gray sides, brown cap and slight upturn of the white on the neck - all hallmarks of Northern Pintail ancestory. Also, the tail is slightly longer than a normal mallard, though it maintains the mallard 'curl'.

This one is a 301 second exposure from the same place, Foreshore Park in Burnaby. Enjoy the star trails! That long one is from an airplane leaving YVR. This is SOOC as well except for the 4x5 crop and the drop shadow. This is similar to my capture which I uploaded a few days ago but the difference is that I tweaked the WB and added more amber and magenta in camera. But the biggest difference is I took this shot 45 mins after so the light was almost gone. Enjoy folks and take it easy! If you like it.

I saw two Canadian geese in Terra Nova this afternoon. I think I have picked the smart one for shooting. The goose was slowly walking on the beach. I kept on saying to myself. Don't walk straight line. The goose seemed to be reading my mind and it made a right turn. Its footsteps have made the curve and it is the curve I needed for my composition! Regarding the title, I have seen so many Flickrites asking people to follow them on Facebook and Twitter. I don't know why? We are interested in the pictures and why do I have to follow you on Facebook? Have a great week ahead!

Forshore Park, Burnaby Weather has been good lately so I took Reese out the other day. It was my first time at Foreshore Park in Burnaby and it was good because there was a playground so Reese had a good time. It was low tide too so we were able to go near the water and get a good view. The shot above actually shows a wee bit of rocks in the FG. The Canucks lost again tonight. Not a good thing to start the weekend. Series is not done yet though but it's really tough to win 3 straight. Oh well, have a nice weekend everyone!

large | This massive cloud formation is a fairly common sight off Delta, BC. It has something to do with the warm air from the Fraser Valley hitting cooler air over the Georgia Strait. Note the weirs at the mouth of the Fraser in lower left. Look at the tiny red boat running to avoid the shadow of the looming wall. That's actually a huge barge being towed by an ocean-going tug. International Buddhist Society and Temple ( Guan-Yin Temple ) has truly fairy tail garden . I wend there on the way back from Tall Ship festival in Steveston. I was hoping to return before the sunrise to shoot the tall ships but location was a photographic disaster so I took few snap shots and took off. On the other hand garden made up for it and some . I was there for an hour or so and walked around one pond … and not all the way . Unfortunately temple is closing at 5:30 pm so I had to leave – but I will be back .

Aberdeen Mall Richmond, BC Soon after I took this shot I was approached by a security guard telling me not to take pictures of the mall. I probably took less than 10 shots all handheld. I mean, what's the point? It's a public area but this is not the first time I've heard of it. Not particularly at this mall but other public areas. I don't get it but I guess rules are rules and they have the right at times. For this case, I don't know but I walked away with something I like.

This beautiful Northern Flicker flew through the open patio door a few minutes ago and just about parted my hair before it hit the window then landed on the floor beside me. I think it's a juvenile male ... not sure. I wrapped it in a towel (after quickly getting this shot) took it outside and very happily away it flew!! I'm sure it will be fine:-) I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab the camera, but only took this one shot, didn't want to stress it any further.

Explore #490 Thank you:-) These cone flowers were in my living room window .... we do get lots of rain here in BC:-) I used another wonderful texture of Kim Klassen's on this shot. I shall be on and off Flickr for the next while. My son is getting married at the end on the month and my granddaughter is coming to stay for school spring break. I think it's going to be a little busy around here. Please forgive me if I don't manage to comment, will catch up when I can.

Taken near the Reifel Bird Refuge near Ladner, British Columbia, CA. Last fall (before clouds and rain were invented) I happened to be in the right place at the right time. What I didn't expect was to suffer this dismissive gaze that demonstrated the condescending elitist attitude that some members of this species apparently exhibit. Blatant 'power'-tripping!! On our walk in the woods yesterday we saw this juvenile GHO. I think this is one that fell from the nest when it was a chick and was taken care of by O.W.L. (Orphaned Wild Life) rehabilitaion centre, and was released back into the wild just over one week ago. This is a huge crop, as I don't have a zoom lens .... yet. Decided to make this one public, even though it's included in my previous post, because it's my favourite, also a closer crop.

Cross process is the other art filter featured in Olympus Viewer 2 (download it and use your PEN's serial number to activate) that wasn't available in the E-P1. Thanks to a tip from , I've been able to try out both the diorama and cross process art filters with my trusty little E-P1. Steveston, Richmond, BC. February 5, 2011.
