Best viewed large. The single most captivating scene I've ever encountered in a cemetery. A fox stole and ladies' calfskin gloves placed with the utmost care on a Bible opened to the 23rd Psalm. Hanging in the limbs of the live oak tree directly above this are strips of cloth, glass beads & shells, a childrens' dressmaking doll, a roll of green thread, and strips of trim items (lace, for instance). There was an unopened bottle of Slivovitz just beside the grave as well. View larger. It's captivating.

What's interesting to me is the difference in rust/corrosion levels in this photo based on the color of the overlaying letterbox-style letter sticker. Letters are still clearly visible in the surface corrosion of this metal grave marker. What could cause this familiar fading pattern? Sun? Some byproduct of the decay of gold plastic instead of black?
