There are several other temples in the large complex and a ghat (steps leading to the river) on the bank of the Hooghly River. The temple was built by Rani Rashmoni between 1847 and 1855. Ramakrishna Paramahamsadev was priest of this temple from 1856 to 1886. It attracts thousands of worshippers round the year.
