Copán
city now known as Copán is a locale in extreme western Honduras, in the Copán Department, near to the Guatemalan border. It is the site of a major Maya kingdom of the Classic era. The ruins of the ancient city are quite extensive. They are not as huge as in Guatemala or in Mexico, but there is more sculpture here than any other Pre-Columbian city. If you love Maya art or ancient ruins can you can easily spend 2 full days here.
Besides the ruins, the countryside is attractive. Slow paced local life is quite calm.
