King Street Station

King Street Station was built from 1904 to 1906 by the Great Northern Railway and Northern Pacific Railway. Its 242 foot tower, modeled after Campanile di San Marco in Venice, Italy, made it the tallest building in Seattle at the time of its construction. It was designed by Charles Reed and Allen Stem, architects of New York's Grand Central Station. The building's style, sometimes called Railroad Italianate, incorporates a number of classical details.
