The USAF Thunderbirds solo pilots perform the famous mirror formation, with Thunderbird 5 inverted above (and slightly further away) than Thunderbird 6. In the large version of this photo, you can see that the 5 on the engine nacelle of Thunderbird 5 is printed on the plane upside down, so that it is viewed correctly in the inverted position. The pilot of Thunderbird 6 appears to be looking at the crowd during this pass. This photo was taken at the 2006 Wings Over Columbus airshow at the Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, Mississippi.

Since the camera was pointed almost straight up when this photo was taken, the orientation is a bit meaningless. I personally like this orientation better, but the probably presents a little more accurate visual. In this photo, the planes are descending, just past the high point in the loop. It was taken at the 2006 Wings Over Columbus airshow at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, Mississippi.

This is the portrait orientation of this photo. Since the photo was taken with the camera pointing almost straight up, the orientation doesn't matter much, but the visual effect is a little more accurate in this orientation.
