Coldwater Lake, about 10 miles (16 km) from Mt. St. Helens, was formed during the 1980 blast. The area is still a bit barren over 20 years after the eruption, which levelled over 230 square miles (600 square km) of forest. Best in . (Four images stitched together with AutoStitch).

From the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Centre, we drove down to Coldwater Lake to hike along the Lakes Trail (#211). Across the Coldwater Lake to the northeast are Minnie Peak and Coldwater Peak.

Suor suggested that we go hiking around Mount St. Helens at the start of August, but I was the only other person was able to go that weekend. We started with a brief stop at the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Centre to admire the view and take a few photographs.

Another sign of how far we've hiked is that the ridge has started to block the view of Mount St. Helens. Eventually, we could only see the smoke, not the mountain itself.
