The short story goes like this : I had only one chance to take this shot and I messed it up completely, hence the reason why I used Photoshop to rescue something out of it and to hide all the imperfections. Long story : To take a picture of the castle from this angle, you have to be in the water (ok, you don't need to be physically in the water, boat would be fine, or in my case - taking a trip on a ferry). The point is (if you take a ferry) you only get one chance because if you mess up your camera settings, you can't go back (unless you have a lot of money and ask the captain to go back). Anyway, it was a very rainy day, my lens was getting wet (or rather the UV filter had all those big water droplets), the ferry was moving, it was windy and I even got the exposure wrong. Apart from the wrong exposure, the picture itself wasn't sharp enough and it had many soft spots (where the rain droplets were left on the UV filter). I wasn't going to take another half day trip on the following days just for this one shot, so instead I chose to take (which you can take on shore). Anyway, this past weekend I decided to play with the picture in Photoshop to hide all the imperfections and to correct the rest.

Hermann Keyserling (1880 - 1946). Filósofo y científico alemán.

Coat of Arms --- Chillon Castle stained glass window

Coat of Arms --- Chillon Castle stained glass window
Made by I-DAVE
The 13th century Château de Chillon became famous when Lord Byron wrote a poem entitled Prisoner of Chillon. This stained glass window should be located in the castle's armory. The inscription on the lower part is written in German, but I have some difficulties reading the gothic font; it should represent the coat of arms of some aristocratic family. Some days ago I finished reading the apocalyptic novel The Purple Cloud by Shiel and I almost forgot the part where the main character resides in the Chillon Castle. I then decided to have a look at the photos I took there last April, when this one just popped out. I though it was worth to appear in my photostream.
