About a month ago I thought I would try m51 one more time from the city.. here is a comparison of ISO settings. Both images are 60 x 1 minute. Obviously would've liked longer subs but restricted due to light pollution and no filters. Quality of image has gone down from the program I used to stitch the images side by side but the comparison was more for brightness than noise. I think last years attempt from the same light polluted location turned out better.. not entirely sure why!!

Jupiter August 17th 2010 I decided to take out my beloved 10 reflector and try to do some video stacking. This was quite difficult to do because I held the camera up to the eyepiece and the telescope does not have any auto-tracking.The eye pieces were a 9mm plossl and a 2x Barlow. 400 frames of video were stacked in Lynkeos with some Deconvolution, Unsharp Mask, and Wavelet adjustments. End result not bad for a 200 dollar camera with a video function!

Every year, crowds of over 150,000 people overtake the West End and Kitsilano neighbourhoods of Vancouver, to watch different countries present their fireworks in a Celebration of Light competition. This was part the final show, Canada's presentation. I wasn't in the best spot to watch the show from, but it was still nice.

I took this picture on a recent visit to Vancouver. I believe the shot is facing west at Charleson Park. I cropped the picture into a square as an experiment. I liked the dramatic feel that the black and white provided then I added quite a bit of noise in Photoshop to give it a grainy look.

Messier 42 Orion Nebula October 16th 2010 30 x 1min + flats iso 800 I have stretched the image to show the running man nebula a little brighter. Some skyglow/gradient due to lots of light pollution. Overall I am pretty happy with the image considering I shot this from a redzone..
