My train booking in the Shatabdi Express to New Delhi

I made my reservation online, when I was in Ladakh. Since I am entitled to a 30% senior citizen discount (SRCTZM on the form means senior citizen male ), I decided to go by air-conditioned chair car class with comfy reserved seats and lots of food included in the ticket price, a higher category than that to which I had been accustomed on previous trips to India. Even so, although the distance is almost as great as that between London and Scotland, the fare was about the same as one would pay for an ordinary second class trip from London to somewhere in Kent. This so-called express train was delayed by seven hours, so that I reached New Delhi not at the scheduled time of around 10 p.m. but rather at 5 o'clock the next morning, after my flight home had left, but fortunately I was able to change my flight booking for no extra charge, and it was useful to have that extra day in Delhi. However, I caught a cold, which was most likely due to the air-conditioning on the train.

The Imambara was built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1784 and its designer was Kifayat-ullah, a relative of the architect of the Taj Mahal. According to legend, the nawab ordered construction of a wall here, which was demolished every evening. This continued for months, providing employment to the famine struck citizen of the city.
