map of eastern NA - St Louis River and Mississippi Rivers
Made by watchawatching
The sign that Identified this map indicated a date of 1732 and that it detailed the Mississippi and St Louis Rivers as the French were engaged in beaver fur trade. Some 15 to 20,000 beaver pelts were shipped per year starting in the early 17th Century. Ultimately millions of pelts were shipped to europe. This is located in the Chateau Ramezay - a museum opposite the Montreal City Hall. I note that there are non-scaling errors in comparison to today's maps, notably the placement of Lake Nipigon.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Not to be confused with the Basilique Notre-Dame-du-Montreal is the cathedral that goes by the same name, near the Molson Brewery Company (a couple of blocks away).
