will it explode when the first black holes are produced by the LHC ? who knows... actually, it likely won't since it is unlikely there will be any black holes. simply, it would take 100 years for the LHC to produce as many particles above 10^14eV as have been hitting the earth since 5 billion years. nothing happened in 5 billion years...

My workplace on the 4th floor (3rd floor if you're European) of Building 40 at CERN. Its out in the open and can be a bit noisy. I have another desk in building 54, but that's a bit walk (it's actually across the border in France), plus the people I'm working with are in building 40, so it is easy to get help.
