The Bell Centre (French: Le Centre Bell), formerly known as the Molson Centre, has been the home of the Montreal Canadiens since March 16, 1996 when they hosted the New York Rangers (a game which they won 4-2). The team departed from the historic Montreal Forum after their last game on March 11 of the same year. Construction began on the site on June 22, 1993. The name of the arena initially reflected Molson, Inc., a brewing company which owned a large share of the Canadiens at the time. Molson elected not to keep the naming rights when they sold the team, and the name officially changed on September 1, 2002 after Bell Canada acquired the naming rights.

Thanks to the 3 minute record sell out time of 22,000 seats on Ticketmaster and Admission.com, my seat was about 113 rows away from the main stage, the farthest I have ever been. Request to Madonna - Please install bigger side screens for the unfortunate few. Billy Joel Concert Crowd - Now That's A Crowd!

Billy Joel with the excited concert crowd. Taken at the Billy Joel Concert @ Bell Center , Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 23th April 2008. Elton John and Billy Joel are returning back to Montreal to perform their 'Face 2 Face' concert on 3rd June, 2009. Although Billy Joel retired in 1993, after recording songs for 2 decades, he continues to charm sold out stadium crowds with his live concert performances. As per the RIAA, he's the sixth best selling artist in US (and with 150 Million+ albums worldwide), after The Beatles, Garth Brooks, Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin and The Eagles. Some memorable parts of the concert included Billy's revolving Piano, 'boxing' with the microphone and a throw-and-catch routine again with the microphone. Of course, I don't need to mention the parts where the crowd was louder than the sound system of the Bell Center, singing classics like Piano Man, Uptown Girl and 'We Didn't Start the Fire' Billy also thanked the fans in the upper section, Thanks for buying the cheap seats because all of our kids have to go to college. Composed of Liam Gallagher (Vocals), Noel Gallagher (Vocals & Guitar), Gem Archer (Guitar), Andy Bell (Guitar) & Chris Sharrock (Drums), they have sold over 50 million records. News: At the Virgin Mobile Festival 2008 in Toronto, Noel was attacked on stage while playing 'Morning Glory' and thrown over his monitor speakers. Sad! Anyway, the 'fan' receive generous punches by his fellow earthlings while being escorted out of the stadium. Blue Man Group - 'How to be a Megastar' Concert

Taken at the Blue Man Group (BMG) 'How To Be A Megastar 2.1' Tour @ Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada on 25nd Sepember, 2008. Mr. Blue Playing notes for 'I Feel Love' by Donna Summers on a Backpack Tubulum at easily over 180 Beats Per Minute. The group played variety of self invented musical intruments including some made from PVC. The list included Tubes ( Drumbone, Tubulum, Drumulum), Airpoles, Drum Wall, Strings (Cimbalom, Chapman Stick). And did I forget to include Piano Smasher (Yes, a piano whose strings are smashed with a mallet). Fun to see spin offs of classical instruments. Some songs in the set list included instrumental covers of The Who, Ozzy Osbourne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Donna Summers. Some of their own compositions included 'Rods and Cones', 'Time to Start', 'Above', 'Drumbone' and PianoSmasher. Currently, Blue Man Group has permanent theater productions in New York, Las Vegas, Orlando, Boston, Chicago, Tokyo and Berlin. (And earlier in Toronto too). Lil Wayne Concert - Hip Hop Horses attend Rap Concert

Lil Wayne Concert brings the beat back to hip hop horses, with the help of Soulja Boy Tell'em, Young Jeezy, Weezy, Pleasure P, Jeremih and the Young Money crew, including Nicki Minaj (That's a mouthful of a sentence). The concert happened on August 5th 2009 at the Bell Center, Montreal. Continued ... This is way too funny not to be posted. While coming back from office today around 10 pm, got to see a lot of cops outside the Bell Center, unusually higher in number than generally seen in most concerts. With the large number of horses in the crowd too, I wondered which dignitary had arrived there. Turns out its a Lil Wayne Concert! No doubt the Hip Hop Horses were securing the area to catch all the rapping Gangsters in da house. Peace out ya'll! p.s. This photo was taken at an earlier event outside the same venue, Today was a similar scene, except in darkness.

Last night, during a hockey game between my beloved Montreal Canadiens and their arch-rivals, the Boston Bruins, a very ugly and disturbing incident occured. Montreal forward Max Pacioretty suffered a severe concussion and a fractured vertebrae as a result of being hit hard and going head-first into the glass partition between the benches. Pacioretty lay motionless for several minutes with his eyes closed before being taken from the ice on a stretcher. I'm really starting to worry about this league. Almost every other night, you hear about someone being injured and nobody seems to care. Players have lost total respect for one another and it's really a shame. I sure hope Max's career isn't in jeopardy because of this incident. 22 years old is too young to call it quits. If you see this Max, we're all thinking of you and wishing you the very best! Get well soon!

KISS Alive 35 Concert Stage @ Bell Center , Montreal, Canada on 13th July 2009. The concert was full of Fireworks and Pyrotechnics, and that's what KISS is known for. Some notable mentions are rockets canons firing from behind guitars, revolving circular fireworks below the drums, fog jets below lift stands. Note the 'SS' in KISS logo. In Germany, this sign is a Nazi symbol for the Schutzstaffel. Hence the logo had to be censored, and instead, a more round 'SS' was used. Classic Rivalry - Habs vs. Leafs!

I had the pleasure of seeing the Habs take on the Leafs on the 8th of January in Montreal. They've got quite a storied history, and the rivalry is the stuff of legend. This game was not epic - Toronto was never really in it. The atmosphere was electric, though, and the crowd was great. I took my D300 with my 18-200 on it, and the attendants didn't seem to care. I found that strange, given that I wasn't allowed to bring a D40 with an 18-55 on it into a game in Ottawa... In any case, this short turned out pretty nicely, in my eyes! Hope you like it. Any feedback would be appreciated! Definitely best viewed large - full size, even!

I'm on course in Montreal this week and by total coincidence so is the tour. Scalped my way in to tonight's show. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a concert more. Taken at the Blue Man Group 'How To Be A Megastar 2.1' Concert @ Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada on 25nd Sepember, 2008. Apart from the awesome lighting effects of the splashing drums, the question marks on the drums had a special meaning (Mocking the Latecomers). Before the show started, the audience were shown messages on the display panels, including doing wacky things when they see question marks. As the latecomers missed it, they found themselves puzzled when these signs were displayed later in the show (The rest of the audience was raising their cell phones).

Celine Dion 'Taking Chances Tour' Concert @ Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada in August, 2008. Featuring a conveyor belt (to move side to side) and an elevator (going up & down). Fun Facts: Celine Dion sold out 11 concerts at the same venue on this tour, with a capacity of 22,426 spectators. That's almost 250,000 tickets!! (August 15, 16, 19, 20, 23, 25, 31, September 1, and February 13, 14 & 15). Overall, she's performing on 5 continents, 24 countries and 84 cities, making a total of 123 shows.
