Carlsberg: Probably the best beer in the world
Made by pablolemosochandio
Carlsberg (IPA: [kɑːlzbɜːɡ]) is one of the largest brewery companies in the world, being present in about 50 countries. The headquarters are in Valby in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company's main brand is Carlsberg Beer, but it also brews Tuborg as well as local beers. The company was founded in 1847 by J. C. Jacobsen after the name of his son Carl (Carl Jacobsen). After merging with the Norwegian brewery group Orkla ASA in January 2001, Carlsberg became the 5th largest brewery group in the world, and now employs around 31,000 people. Carlsberg was founded by J. C. Jacobsen; the first brew was finished on November 10, 1847. Exportation of Carlsberg Beer began in 1868; foreign brewing was begun in 1968 with the opening of a Carlsberg brewery in Blantyre, Malawi. Some of the company's original logos include an elephant (after which some of its lagers are named) and the swastika. Use of the latter was discontinued in the 1930s because of its association with political parties in neighboring Germany. Carlsberg founder J. C. Jacobsen was a philanthropist and avid art collector. With his fortune he amassed an impressive art collection which is now housed in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in central Copenhagen. Jacobsen set up the Carlsberg Laboratory in 1875 which worked on scientific problems related to brewing. It featured a Department of Chemistry and a Department of Physiology. The species of yeast used to make pale lager, Saccharomyces carlsbergensis, was isolated at the Laboratory and was named after it. The concept of pH was developed there as well as advances in protein chemistry. The laboratory was part of the Carlsberg Foundation until 1972 when it was renamed the Carlsberg Research Center and transferred to the brewery. The old brewery in Copenhagen is open for tours and famous visitors have included Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II. Carlsberg acquired Tuborg breweries in 1970 and merged with Tetley in 1992. Carlsberg has one brewery in Ashkelon, Israel which started production in 1994 of Carlsberg and Tuborg for the local Israeli market. Carlsberg has two breweries in China - Huizhou and Shanghai. It used to have one in Hong Kong, but shut it down in 1999 due to high costs. Carlsberg's Shanghai brewery started production in 1998.

Carlsberg: Probably the best beer in the world

Elephant beer: In 1901, on brewer Carl Jacobsen’s initiative the Architect, Professor J.L. Dahlerup created a tower resting on four elephants carved in granite from the Danish island Bornholm. Brewer Jacobsen was inspired to this gate by the obelisk supporting elephant on the Minerva Square in Rome. The four elephants each bear the initial of one of Carl Jacobsen’s four children: Theodora, Paula, Helge and Vagn. This became known as The Elephant Gate and is a landmark entrance to the brewery. To the west of the gate, Carl Jacobsen’s motto was inscribed: Laboremus pro Patria (Let us work for our country). Since then the Elephant has been a famous part of the Carlsberg Family, especially after the strong Elephant Beer was created in 1955 under the name “Export Lager Beer” and featuring the Elephant label. Marketed in Ghana, the Gold Coast, and Nigeria. Launched on the Danish market as Elephant Beer on 9 November 1959. The Elephant is still brewed in Carlsberg Breweries in Copenhagen and exported around the world. A few markets brew their own Carlsberg Elephant beer locally according to the original recipe. Carlsberg's tagline Probably the best beer in the world was created in 1973 by Saatchi and Saatchi for the UK market. It began to appear in company corporate ads around the world from the 1980s onwards.

Carlsberg's Bottle Collection (HDR)
Made by moralec
HDR Picture of Carlsberg's Bottle Collection. The story of the bottle collection began in 1968 when a Danish engineer started collecting unopened beer bottles from every corner of the world. Mr. Leif Sonne kept his collection within the frames of his private house in the provincial town of Svendborg. In the early 1990's, the collection reached 10.000 bottles and due to the vast number, it was evident that the collection would have to be placed somewhere else. The entire collection was transferred to The Carlsberg Breweries in 1993 and there it became a favorite stop for the tourists on the conducted brewery tours. At this point, the collection comprised 10.376 bottles. On May 27 1993, the local publisher of Guinness Book of Records recognized this accomplishment as a Danish record. Abandoned halls
Made by Lens Adventurer
Some of the old halls where things are being abandoned while big parts of Carlsberg Breweries in the other end of the area are being heavy restorated. Went for a exploration trip with two good friends. In this set I focus on showing contrasts between LIGHT and SHADOW in Carlsberg Breweries, as well as doing some hand-held shots with a yellow plastic film in front of the flash while the flash was set on slow rear release. That is why some of the shots are quite mellow yellow C-: Enjoy!

I went on a very nice sneaking trip with a good friend. We finally succeeded in roof topping the silos at Carlsberg Breweries using the underground as a pathway. Underground shots are from various locations in the tunnels below the silos. When we sneak we do not touch anything nor break anything. It's about documenting industrial areas that damps with history without anybody noticing it C-:

Return of the ghost
Made by Lens Adventurer
A photo from the archives that I have made some tone mapping and colour mixing on to match the composition better. Shot taken in the old halls in Carlsberg Breweries where old beer wood barrels where stored while maturing. We had lots of fun while making it! Facts: - 13 sec shutter time while the ghost is standing there half of the time. - Single raw conversion to HDR in photomatrix

The Old Brewery, where JC Jacobsen founded Carlsberg, was constructed in collaboration with the architect HC Stilling. Opened in 1847, it comprised a brew house, a storehouse and a half-timbered stable block. JC Jacobsen named the brewery “Carlsberg” after his son Carl and the berg (Danish for hill) on which it was built. Carlsberg Visitors Centre (www.visitcarlsberg.com)

Single car accident outside my home. Young guns driving like crazy wound up flying sideways across the street bouncing into a lightpole and cutting down a tree. Good thing me and mine where 5 stairs up. Luckily there where no other casualties but the guys in the car - I hear they are still alive. Everybody drive safely now!

Cold moon
Made by Oape
Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star. ~ W. Clement Stone I saw this thermometer at the Carlsberg brewery being harshly lit by a spotlight. The shadow of the instrument created this nice moon like reflection which is also on the end of the indicator of the thermometer.
